It is vastly amusing to see the desperation with which Trump disciples cling to their old, tattered boogeymen as they continue to try and get people to 'look over there' instead of at their hero's string of perpetual screw-ups.

You seem to be confusing me with someone else. Like the Trump apologists who keep bringing Hillary up whenever Trump's latest idiocy makes them feel uncomfortable.

Well not even that, just because she wrote another book doesn't mean anyone has to talk about it. The answer is really quite simple, stop paying attention to her and you won't see her. The Right can't do that though because instead of being able to focus on all the winning Trump is doing they have to remained focused on the She Devil to console themselves that it could be worse.

You can't always pigeon hole someone as being either Right or Left. You could probably pigeon hole myself as not being fond of Hillary. It's like sports, if you don't care who wins or loses there is no interest. It becomes more interesting if you have someone to root for, or against. An election, or controversy, is more interesting if Hillary is there to root against.

I should emphasize that I'm not a Trump supporter , the guy is a buffoon.

I think you kinda missed my point. The ones that generally keep bringing up Hillary are those that are Trump Supporters, and even Trump himself. Whereas every President previously has spent their time devoted to getting things done and ignoring the previous administrations publically, with the "winning" the Trump is doing, he keeps bring up Hillary and Obama as a way of distracting his supporters, and consequently his followers are all still focused on her too. Trump is employing the classic magicians' trick of look over there while I'm doing something over here I don't want you to see, and Clinton is the perfect foil to keep their attention.
