Seems SOP for SJWs to edit off the beginning, the cause of incidents.

I wasn't aware that "SJW" is an abbreviation for Nazi scum?

Because the beginning of the clip shows

1. The car going down the street (past the videographer) at considerable speed
2. People reacting to speeding car by starting to run to the sides
3. Car NOT braking but keeping straight at pedestrian crowd
At this point, the intention to murder is obvious.
4. Person on sidewalk swings something at car, possibly in the "dead angle" of the driver.

It is obvious and clear that the swinger was reacting to the murdere and his murder weapon, the car.
It is equally obvious that you just wrote an apology for a Nazi murderer.

The beginning was exactly what was edited out in the video in the OP. You know, the part that shows the driver already speeding towards the crowd before one of the protestors hit his car with a bat.

Yup, I've pointed that out to the nutters. His wheels squeak and he bottoms out when the pavement changes to asphalt. It does the same exact thing when he acccelerates in reverse. There is no way he was driving as a responsible driver in either direction.

I wasn't aware that "SJW" is an abbreviation for Nazi scum? ...

On a serious note, there do seem to be a few posters on this site who get "triggered" easily by SJW's. Actually, I think any mention that a group (protesters or not protesters) contains a smattering of Transgenders, Gays, or Lesbians triggers them into labeling the whole group as uppity SJW's-who can then be dismissed accordingly.

Here is the vid that starts earlier ...

The guy swings the bat 4 seconds in. The driver is going to walk and those lawsuits will have to be against antifa.

Four seconds in as in after the driver is racing toward the crowd?

Did it dawn on you if he was fleeing people he would have turned the corner at the intersection he went through rather than continuing on into an obvious road block of people and stopped cars?

Or the driver, after being assaulted by a member of the crowd, speeds away in fear, and incidentally defends himself from the crowd with the best defensive weapon at hand- his car.

Even in California, self defense is legal. We all know how dangerous riots can be.
Straw clinging has been taken up as a cause I see.

Well, no, given that it's perfectly clear that the guy accelerated with intent long before he was hit by any bat. Frankly, it's lucky that there was a car in front of him, or he could have killed far more people.

Also, any reason to think that "Antifa" would be sued given that they were a small part of the counter-protest - or that they *could* be sued given that they aren't an actual, organized group? Do you have any idea what you're typing?

Can the the title of this thread be changed to what it really is?

"Car attack in Charlottesville"

(at least the people of Barcelona are spared endless internet posts about how the whole thing is the fault of the crowd that the van plowed into)

Yes. It's quite disgusting really.

To be consistent with what we've called the nearly identical attacks worldwide, shouldn't it be:

"Terrorist attack in Charlottesville"

Yes, that would be even better. You may not that I called for that in the second post of the thread.

I've never carried a baseball bat to anything except a baseball game.

When the trial comes up, I hope there's a plea deal. I think he's guilty, but I'm not sure what charge. Until I watched the videos I saw today, I assumed this was a straightforward, easy to judge, case. Afterwards? I'm not so sure. What advice would you give to a guy in his situation? Stop the car? Get out of it? He's surrounded by an angry mob with baseball bats.

Of course, one bit of advice would be to not be a neo-Nazi pond scum, but that's not legally relevant.

If it goes to trial, the results could be unfortunate. He could get off and/or the trial itself could spark more violence.

ETA: It's hard to tell whether he had a clear way out if he had gone into reverse. It looks like he might have. After he hit the crowd, he had no exit without hitting people, but that might be a consequence of running into the crowd.

I would propose we don't play internet detective or form opinions on this until much further into the development between the government and a defense attorney.

Don't intentionally drive into a crowd of baseball bat wielding protesters and kill one of them?
