This is not a dry, academic discussion where group identities can be diluted and reapplied as need be to most precisely capture the fleeting zeitgeist. We are deep within the folds of identity politics. Labels are important. They have meaning, both when chosen for oneself and imposed by others.
When a group of like-minded racists started banding together and calling themselves the "alt-right," that meant something.
When I tell someone that they are not an "ethnopatriot," they are a goddamned Nazi, that means something.
When the alt-right try to label everyone opposed to them as "alt-left," that too is supposed to mean something.
