So, for a long time now we've been fed a line that police brutality isn't a symptom of a larger problem with who has been recruited into the police ranks but just a few "bad apples".

But then today Trump told a gathering of officers to beat the **** out of people and it was greeted with a roar of cheers.

What are we to make of this?
 
Well, first, Toupee Fiasco is a horrible person, running a horrible administration. We should not be shocked to see him endorse police violence against the innocent.

Second, let's view folks like Jeff Sessions for a moment. We know that this is basically the return of Jim Crow. And that's the fight - we're fighting for rights, the end.
 
Why is this even surprising ?

LEO skew conservative and authoritarian (which does not mean that all are), not least because those are the type of people who are drawn to a job like that. That a proportion are bullies (as with an job) is also not a surprise so when The President says:

More to make the USA a laughing stock for the rest of the world.

Remember: Law Enforcement is local. Toupee Fiasco can endorse whoever he wants, but in the end, this is about how policing is done in the area you live in.

Demand answers from your local reps. And if it's needed, demand reform as well. Show up at town halls, don't let the reps skate by.
 
I would hazard that his Trumpness knows essentially nothing about police work and the efforts that have been made over the years to build professional, well-trained departments with policies and practices that meet international scrutiny.

Evidently his notions are formed by the hick Sherrif in the James Bond movies.

Too easy a question, Travis!!! We make of this that Trumpf is amazingly and clearly a total ******* (a long known given) and a notable percentage of police are or can be coerced into being total ******** (also a long known given).
 
Trump has already endorsed torture even if it doesn't work, because those *********** bastards deserve it anyways, and people are surprised that he'd endorse and encourage police abusing people?

America is a land of violent vindictive vicious ******** and by electing Trump the American people have chosen someone that they can relate to as their leader.

Don't deny it: you want violent and stupid "regular guys" like yourselves to lead you.
 
Lets say for some reason one of his family has to be taken into a police station, how will Trump react when they come out with a blackeye, couple of cracked ribs and a gash on their forehead?

He seems to have forgotten that being taken into custody by the police does not mean you are guilty.

Trump wants society to stop molly coddling dangerous criminals. You catch a bank robber or murderer or rapist why treat him or her with an over indulgent show of respect?
