Many Americans have become accustomed to President Trump’s lies. But as regular as they have become, the country should not allow itself to become numb to them. So we have catalogued nearly every outright lie he has told publicly since taking the oath of office....

There is simply no precedent for an American president to spend so much time telling untruths. Every president has shaded the truth or told occasional whoppers. No other president — of either party — has behaved as Trump is behaving. He is trying to create an atmosphere in which reality is irrelevant.

We have set a conservative standard here, leaving out many dubious statements (like the claim that his travel ban is “similar” to Obama administration policy). Some people may still take issue with this standard, arguing that the president wasn't speaking literally. But we believe his long pattern of using untruths to serve his purposes, as a businessman and politician, means that his statements are not simply careless errors.

We are using the word “lie” deliberately. Not every falsehood is deliberate on Trump's part. But it would be the height of naïveté to imagine he is merely making honest mistakes. He is lying.

I wonder how Trump managed to mislead so many of his supporters. As a result, Trump is ruining US credibility in the eyes of the world.

A Time Magazine with Trump on the cover hangs in his golf clubs. It’s fake.

The framed copy of Time Magazine was hung up in at least four of President Trump’s golf clubs, from South Florida to Scotland. Filling the entire cover was a photo of Donald Trump.

“Donald Trump: The ‘Apprentice’ is a television smash!” the big headline said. Above the Time nameplate, there was another headline in all caps: “TRUMP IS HITTING ON ALL FRONTS . . . EVEN TV!”

This cover — dated March 1, 2009 — looks like an impressive memento from Trump’s pre-presidential career. To club members eating lunch, or golfers waiting for a pro-shop purchase, it seemed to be a signal that Trump had always been a man who mattered. Even when he was just a reality-TV star, Trump was the kind of star who got a cover story in Time.

But that wasn’t true.

The Time cover is a fake.

Reporter tells Huckabee Sanders that she's being inflammatory when she says the media is reporting fake news. Sanders disagrees that it is inflammatory to say the media is reporting fake news.......

The Trump regime wants to be a dictatorship. Note that Breitbart news is tag-teaming the fake news narrative with Sanders against CNN and the rest of the credible media.

I'm not worried about CNN: being overly cautious keeps advertisers happy; unlike Fox and Breitbart who hemorrhage money when they can't pull the plug on the nonsense they and the President and his satellites make up.

WASHINGTON — When the White House issued a statement Monday evening threatening to exact "a heavy price" in response to a potential chemical attack by the Syrian government, senior national security officials were caught off guard.

White House officials say there were consultations, but key officials who help make Middle East policy at the Pentagon and the State Department had no idea the statement was coming, multiple U.S. officials told NBC News. Many of them knew about the intelligence suggesting possible preparations for a chemical attack, but they weren't aware the White House was going to issue a public threat of military action — a major step.

The disconnect underscores the extent to which President Trump is making foreign policy on the fly, with little regard for the opinions of the diplomatic and military establishments, and with a freewheeling style that couldn't be more different from the lawyerly approach of the Obama team, current and former U.S. officials told NBC News.

It might, but that's what his supporters, and the vast majority of the GOP want, someone who goes with their gut and shoots from the hip (if that's not too mixed a metaphor) rather than someone who is cowed by advice from military and diplomatic so-called experts :rolleyes:

So what if it results in a war or two ? That's what the military is for and with President Trump's increased spending on the military, they are much better placed to wage war on multiple fronts.
