You do realize that I was being sarcastic in my post, right?

I do realize that there are a ton of things that can go wrong... poor relations with allies makes it harder to use diplomatic or military pressure when needed (making the U.S. less safe). A drop in visitors to the U.S. negatively affects tourism.

He seems to have his ducks in a row regarding the repeal and replacement of the ACA. Yes it'll be much worse for millions who end up with effectively useless insurance or no insurance but there'll be lower premiums (for useless coverage, but people don't seem to care about that until too late) and tax cuts.

In other words, he (or his people) have learned how to get things done. Expect significant (and undeserved) bumps in his approval rating :mad:

He and his supporters are also gushing about the O'Keefe takedown of CNN. This is starting to look dangerously like momentum. I still have faith that Trump will find some way to screw it up, though.

Remember how Trump's growth strategy was going to help keep the budget from going further into deficit?

The International Monetary Fund said on Tuesday it had cut its growth forecasts for the US economy to 2.1% in 2017 and 2018...the IMF said the Trump administration’s push for annual growth of over 3% for a sustained period was unlikely to be achieved

They also suggested that its "cut tax for the wealthy" plan was a bad thing to do.

In all seriousness, I'd imagine that lots of Republicans (not just the alt-right) and a fair number of Democrats have a pretty unfavorable view of the IMF.

The people I know who voted for Trump never said much about Hillary Clinton. But we're in New York where she was our U.S. senator for eight years and she was well respected by many New Yorkers, especially what they call 'down-state' New Yorkers. At one point her favorable rating was over 70% with even half the Republicans surveyed saying they approved of the way she was doing her job.

The people I know who voted for Trump were saying they wanted to give him a chance. They thought he'd be tough. Tell the special interests to take a hike. Cracking down on illegal immigration was mentioned often, also amping up the fight against terrorism.

Hillary Clinton? They really never mentioned her. It was usually me that brought her name up. I said I was a registered Democrat and would be voting for Hillary. The Trump voters I know -- mostly working class whites -- would just shake their heads and say, "Not me. I'm voting for Trump." Very little anger expressed or even implied.
