The Trump Presidency

Trump is moving a squadron or so of US Bombers to Japan. That will show North Korea where to get off....

Wonder what Japan thinks about that.

Why should they worry. North Korea missiles can't (quite) reach them (yet).

We think. Maybe.

And they know they can always rely on the steadfastness of the U.S as a military partner.

Just look at NATO. And Qatar.

It isn't like our Commander in Chief would support an ally getting blockaded or anything.

As the months move onward, Trump's approval ratings continue to move downward.

"Leave him alone": Trump voters weigh in on president's performance

OSHKOSH, Wis. -- As President Trump marks five months in office Tuesday, he has hit a new low in a CBS News poll.

Only 36 percent of Americans told us they approve of the job he's doing. Mr. Trump is even losing support among Republicans.

They are among the 72 percent of Republicans who remain in Mr. Trump's corner, according to a new CBS News poll. But that number is down from 83 percent 52 days ago. And Mr. Trump's disapproval rate among Republicans is up seven points.

Trump continues to demonstrate why he is not the right person to lead the United States of America.

Wonder what Japan thinks about that.

I think Japan favors anything that might discourage Dear Leader from any new adventures. But whether a largely symbolic gesture will do that.......

North Korea is a real problem, and as much As I dislike Trump, I think those hoping for some kind of humiliation of the Trump by NK are being very short sighted.

*When Hell Freezes Over, obviously.

I disagree. There will be a breaking point.
You cannot regard the GOP congress as a solid block;quite the opposite.I think those in swing districts and more classically conservative destricts could sell their voters on how Pence..or Ryan. Problem is those who have districts where the diehard people who are into the Trump Personaltiy cult are heavy.
You have a certain number of Trump supporters who will support anybody in the White House who is a Republican, they are not into Trump as savior;and you have those who are heavily into Trump The Messiah. The former can be sold on replacing Trump;the latter are hopeless.

Agreed, there is fast coming a point where there are more GOP Loyalists on the disapprove and weakly approve side than there are strong Trump Loyalists, and at that point the Critters, especially the House ones, will start worrying more about their seats turning blue next year than they will be about being primaried for tossing Trump and installing President Pence. If his approval rate amongst Republican Supporters hits 65% I would not at all be surprised to start hearing the "I" word coming from Republicans.

Trump continues to demonstrate why he is not the right person to lead the United States of America.

Not so, according to Gallup. According to them Trump's approval rating among Republicans and Independents has taken a small uptick to 84% and 32% respectively.

There's no getting away from the fact that Trump is hugely popular among Republicans and pretty popular among independents and I think the Democratic Party needs to understand that hoping that President Trump will be electoral poison will not work no matter how bad they think he is.

Yep, republican's don't care what Trump is up to because he's their guy. However, everyone else is moving far, far away from Trump which is why he has horrible ratings on the whole.

The Republicans will begin to care when these "everyone else" will understand that booing isn't enough, they have to vote (™ Obama).
Yesterday's special elections show that, while there certainly is progress, we are not there yet.

Maybe. I doubt they care because of the gerrymandering, voter suppression and unsecured voting processes all favor them.

Speaking of gerrymandering, didn't Obama say that that issue - or, more broadly, electoral reform - was going to be his focus after his presidency. He better get crackin' if he hopes to affect 2020.
