CCW holder killed reaching for ID.

This 100%. I was trying to find a way to type exactly this last night but my brain was having trouble processing the extreme absurdity and stupidity of the situation. The cop shot a citizen for exercising his lawful rights and the best excuse people can come up with is he didn't say some subjective magic words correctly. How stupid.

I'll go further and say that the fact that so many police officers in the US (and the sampling here is lousy, but hey, some state actor should collect statistics, damnit) seem to utterly **** themselves at the sight of a weapon is weird

In a world where guns are legal, LEO's need to find a way to deal with that that doesn't involve shooting until you hear click instead of bang.

So how long do people think a deaf, black open carry activist would last?

... Because evidently, as a CCW holder, you 1. must deliver certain information, or be shot/arrested, and 2. it must be delivered in the correct narrow time window, or be shot/arrested.

In that state it is not required to inform an officer of your CCW.

In that state it is not required to inform an officer of your CCW.
And in other states, it is. So, you have to remember when you cross state lines, when to say the magic words, and when saying the magic words can get you killed.
But in the end, moot: he had weapon that he was legally entitled do, and all he did was inform the officer of that fact. Then he was shot.

If I remember correctly, Mr. Kinsey (the gentleman who was shot) asked the officer why he shot him. The officer responded, "I don´t know". :jaw-dropp

And then the cop tried to deny the victim medical aid in the hopes that the victim would bleed out and there wouldn't be a second side to the story.

Scumbags, all of them.

Agreed 100% ... I just wanted to clarify the fine detail (Although granted it's not very pertinent).

So, even though he is required only to tell officer if asked, but volunteered info and was still shot? To paraphrase Chris Rock "not one white person in here would trade places with me...and I´m rich!"

I'll say two things (probably already stated)

If he was MUCH more careful in stating his CCW, (hands on the windshield) "Officer I have a CCW permit, did you want me to get out of the vehicle"

He might most likely be alive today

OR if he was white

He might most likely be alive today

Agreed 100%. I do wish , however, the officer had instructed him to place his hands on the wheel, as Yanez´s partner has testified he would have done.

Probably a stupid question but why do your average people feel the need to carry a concealed weapon rather than open carry?

In the interests of openess I should say I think both are stupid.

Open carry is illegal in some (most?) areas.

NOT GUILTY.

It's only been a few minutes since I heard the verdict (from BBC news of all places). I drove by the police station and didn't see any activity there. However, it appears crowds are gathering downtown at the courthouse.

Hot Friday night, much tension all around. This is not going to end well.
