The Trump Presidency

The loyalty pledges unfolded the day before Attorney General Jeff Sessions is due to testify before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence about his involvement with Moscow and his role in the firing of Mr. Comey. Mr. Sessions has recused himself from the Russia investigation.

The tableau in the White House’s Cabinet Room struck many observers, including former White House officials familiar with the day-to-day workings of the president and the senior officials in his administration, as extraordinary.

“I ran 16 Cabinet meetings during Obama’s 1st term,” Chris Lu, former President Barack Obama’s Cabinet secretary, wrote on Twitter. “Our Cabinet was never told to sing Obama’s praises. He wanted candid advice not adulation.”

Yet the comments were in keeping with an intense effort by the White House to boost Mr. Trump’s mood and change the subject from the damaging testimony last week of Mr. Comey, who, under oath, accused the president of having fired him for his handling of the Russia inquiry.

Flatterers are relegated to the eighth circle of hell.

Today's Cabinent Meeting was unbelievable. A bunch of sycophants all prasing Dear Leader.
Apparently Schumer Tweeted a mock meeting making fun of it. I've not seen the Cabinet meeting yet and only saw a snippet of the fake one where there are comments on Schumer's great hair and what a blessing it is to serve him.

I did see another meeting where Trump insisted one of the members tell everyone about Trump's hole in one golf shot. It was bizarre. Then I found out Trump cheats at golf and wondered if the shot actually occurred or if maybe one of his employees dropped the ball in the cup.

Here's a link to both including Schumer's satire. http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/12/politics/donald-trump-cabinet-meeting/index.html
Flattery will get you everywhere. Donald Trump's favorite topic of conversation is Donald Trump. The best way to talk about Donald Trump, if you want to keep working for Donald Trump, is to praise Donald Trump. The more over-the-top, the better.

You get a glimpse of Nikki Haley kissing Trump's ass like the rest of them.

At first, I thought Trump was just going to have the new members of the Cabinet spend a few minutes praising him. NOPE! It soon became clear that Trump planned to have every Cabinet member speak. And when I say "speak" what I really mean is "praise Trump for his accomplishments, his foresight, his just being awesome."
You think I am exaggerating. I am not. Here's what White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said about Trump: "We thank you for the opportunity and blessing to serve your agenda."
I mean, WHAT?!?
Wow, just wow. This is how real dictators behave. Scary. And he has the nuclear codes...

One way to buy fealty is to have supplicants debase themselves by shedding their dignity. It creates or reinforces a psychological dependency. Trump's Cabinet members will now have paid a higher buy-in, and will be more motivated to toe the line. Unless they possess any shred of moral fiber and revolt.

This is It. This is going to be the week that Something Big happens. It's like a kaleidoscope where the patterns appear random, but suddenly everything focuses to a single point.

One facet: Rodman back in North Korea? I wouldn't be surprised if Kim had him offed just to provoke the U.S. PDJT.

Only through his greatness, which is so great, can America also become great again although to a degree of greatness that the whole world never ever has witnessed or shall witness ever again were his glorious reign to end.

Grating.

Ok lets go around the thread witnessing to the greatness of Dear Leader Donald Trump. Who is first?

Donald Trump is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life.

(Let's see if anybody gets this reference........)

Trump truly is the best and most greatest president of America there ever has been or can be, ever.

Only through his greatness, which is so great, can America also become great again although to a degree of greatness that the whole world never ever has witnessed or shall witness ever again were his glorious reign to end.

Greatest post ever!

I had to look it up. That was Great!

Holy ****** What the **** was that cabinet meeting? *********** Priebus sounded like he was praying to the sick freak. That bootlicking sounded like a bunch of North Korean Apparatchik trying to convince The Dear Leader not to send them and their families to labor camps. How far does one have to be detached from reality to think that was going to play well with anyone other than his most rabid supporters? Everyone at that table should know that the last thing this president or this country needs is a cabinet with Trump's balls on their chins.

The late night comedians are probably already splicing together sound from a North Korean Party Congress and that meeting.

I cannot unsee that.

And another set back for Trump:

Trump travel ban suffers new court defeat

well at least he can't be blamed personally for this setback, oh wait:

I don't know why The Whitehouse is surprised. The Immigration and Natuonality Act has been around since the sixties. IIRC from my immigration law classes, the clause that you can it discriminate based on country of origin was added to remove the last remnants of the Asian Exclusion Laws.

I'll be interested to see if the Supremes take up this case. It's been ruled on in three districts with similar results. Since there are no conflicting precedent decisions and the INA is unambiguous the court may just decide not to hear the case.

I'm just at a loss for non-swear words as to how all of those people can confuse respect for the office and hero worship of the steward of the office.

You have to wonder how it is that Trump and his minions thought that Cabinet Trump-worship would make Trump look good. Surely only Trump thought it was real adulation and that's why he produced it.
