Merged All things Trump + Russia

I wonder what they think about the conversations Comey had with Trump would legally be considered classified. Would it b the part where Trump asked for personal loyalty, or when Trump asked for a stop to an investigation, or both?
It's laughable.

They think they're classified because they're spoon fed these taking points and are too retarded to think for themselves. Whatever fox says is the truth.

Then why didn't he leak the memo himself?
There was no leak, Comey has stated his reasons for getting the message out there indirectly, and been entirely open about having done so since. All of this with forethought, and that's the forethought of a lawyer whose FBI career peaked at the summit.

I'm not saying there haven't been rookie mistakes made, but none of them by Comey.

It was a good tactic by Comey.

The argument that it was a leak is ridiculous because the memo is not classified material. The fact that Comey will never be charged with leaking classified documents because of this is sure to not bother Trump supporters about this.

It's refreshing to watch someone who's on top of things in action for a change.

Lol, I forgot, your narrative. But he is the one who asked someone else to leak them. Does that sound like he intended to "release them"?

No classified information was involved. Did Trump declare 'executive privilege.' In other words, there was nothing illegally what Comey had done. Trump says that he will testify, 100%, to confront Comey's testimony, but if Trump does so, that will lead to his impeachment. Trump has a history of lying under oath, and in fact, Trump got caught lying 30 times in 2 days.

To recap, no classified information was involved, unlike Trump side-stepping protocols to pass along classified information to the Russians.

Skeptic Ginger - Which of those is your best example of the U.S. interfering with an election process?

Well, organising a coup against an elected government isn't technically interfering with the election process, agreed, but if you know that is hanging over you, then the threat of such a coup is.

Degree tends to matter:boggled:

I don't blame anyone for not wanting Hillary. I didn't really want her, myself, though. I fully admit that I voted for her instead of a third party candidate primarily because Trump was quite clearly so very much worse for the country, though, and that opinion seems to have been verified beyond any reasonable doubt. Whether the backlash against Trump will help push the country back onto a better course than it would have ended up under Hillary is a questionable thing and I'm not especially fond of trusting in long shots like that.

Voting for the less of the two evils has many downsides
The first one being that you end up with an evil anyways

He was successful in that position - candidate. As President elect and President he's been disastrous. Why else do you think he keeps re-living the campaign, in his public ramblings and Trump 2000 rallies?

He does not care
He just wanted to be elected President and he did not care much about the good of the country (whatever this means)
So he has been successful

Indeed. We don't live in an especially "good" world in the first place, though, so dealing with some evil is pretty much inescapable. That doesn't mean that it's a good choice to intentionally choose a path that means that distinctly more evil will need to be dealt with, in general. It's understandable if one person takes more on oneself to reduce the overall evil or if one person shirks it so they don't need to deal with as much, but increasing it for both oneself and others is hard to justify well.

Questionable. Given how little of a plan he had for after getting elected, among other things, there's a very distinct possibility that he actually wasn't trying to win the Presidency as much as he was trying to win supporters, influence, and fame to convert to sales at his businesses and general bragging rights. His loud and repeated cries of rigged elections seemed especially pointed at doing so, for that matter, given that he fairly clearly expected to lose.

I agree that Trump lies but as Sessions has shown, there aren't necessarily any negative consequences for committing perjury.

As the recent comments by GOP senators calling Comey a liar and the long discussion about what "I hope you...." shows, as long as Trump's testimony supports the GOP version of events then there will be no impeachment and FOXNews and its fellow travellers will find ways to show that Trump is telling the truth.

Rather, even if it's crystal clear that Trump lied under oath, it would still require the GOP to impeach him, which is, to be completely frank, very unlikely given that a large majority of the Republican Party still favors him.

Having prepared and circulated them with precisely this kind of contingency in mind, and Comey is, lets not forget, a proven lawyer who's known exactly what he's been doing every step of the way.

And in the Trump corner, Kasowitz. I'm reminded of Trump's doctor, remember that guy?
Is his current lawyer the one who claimed a husband I. E. Trump can't rape his wife I. E. Ivana?

Many people voted for Trump for the same reason I suspect and at the end this got Trump elected

You are making a lot of assumptions here
And I dont like this

It was a good tactic by Comey.
No, it was a mistake. But don't expect Comey to acknowledge his error. He will probably come up with some lame excuse like "I take responsibility for every decision I made, but that's not why I lost".

The argument that it was a leak is ridiculous because the memo is not classified material.
No. It might not have been classified material when he leaked it, but it is now. And Comey used a private email server to send this classified material to people who were not cleared to view it. This is criminal negligence, but I bet he will refuse to admit it.

Comey will never be charged with leaking classified documents
You are probably right. No doubt the FBI will investigate him, but not recommend charges despite finding evidence of "potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information".

Perhaps so. That doesn't mean that the decision making process was thought out beyond a point that can only be called extremely superficial, though.

Which assumptions or statements do you think are unreasonable there when it comes to pointing out a reasonable alternative to your claim that distinctly rests on assumptions itself?

No, it was a mistake. But don't expect Comey to acknowledge his error. He will probably come up with some lame excuse like "I take responsibility for every decision I made, but that's not why I lost".

What did Comey lose at, again?

No. It might not have been classified material when he leaked it, but it is now. And Comey used a private email server to send this classified material to people who were not cleared to view it. This is criminal negligence, but I bet he will refuse to admit it.

...What? No, seriously, what?

So... this whole post of yours was an utterly nonsensical "Comey is just like Hillary" claim?
