Wonder Women "Ladies Only" Screening Brouhaha...

Only ones I can think of (if you count based on video games & made up just for the movies) are Alice from Resident Evil & Selene from Underworld. Maybe Cat Woman, but that sucked & the character is chaotic neutral at best.

There was also the worst of them, Elektra. *shudders*

Someone pass the tissues. Once you've dried your tears, feel free to Google the stats on women in positions of power in government and business around the world.

I see that Danny Huston is Erich Ludendorff....who in real life was a very unpleasant character...and an early supporter of Hitler.
Surprised that none of WW's classic opponents is in this film. They must be saving Mars and Circe the Sorceress for the sequel.

ANybody else like the "Little Piggies" episode of "Justice League:Unlimited" as much as I do?
The one where Circe turns Wonder Women into a Pig,and Batman has to run around trying to find a cure?

Sounds like something engraved on a plaque in whatever cramped basement the MRA whiners hold their sad little meetings.

They call them superheroes, not super-heroines. It's a male stereotype.

Classic. I loved that the pig still had the magic bracelets, and used them.

I think you might have posted this in the wrong thread.

This thread is about a bunch of crybabies upset that everything isn't for them all the time.

You are spot on.

Assuming you are referring to both the mra idiots, and the idiots crowing about this as a victory of some kind.

It's two groups of morons falling for a publicity stunt. And two groups of people who want everything to be them focused.

That's true, too. I'm firmly in the no big deal camp, so neither those whining about it nor those laughing at the whiners for their gullibility impress me overmuch. It's no better than the Republicans who are so pleased with the current White House occupants because they're making the "liberals"* mad.

*Scare quotes included because the current situation isn't doing much for a lot of people who consider themselves moderate and conservative, either.

No, what made this a story was the poutrage over the screenings, not the screenings themselves. Had these sad excuses for men not decided to announce their inadequecies to the world, no one would be talking about it.

Also, not too sure how this qualifies as a "publicity stunt" as opposed to one in a number of special screenings and events that The Alamo Drafthouse is known for hosting.

That's part of that flip-side of the "poutrage" (good word).
I think it was a great idea, hope they're succesful with the following one as well.

Much like the screenings specifically for parents with small children. It's just a special instance service for a focused group with a shared interest.

What's the actual harm anyone is complaining about?

Sorry I assumed you knew a bit more about advertising, my bad.

No, what made this a story was CNN deciding to make it a story.

Have you actually read the article linked the OP? The entire extent of the "poutrage" was some negative responses to the announcement on the theater's Facebook page. Here's the worst response CNN could find:

"Apparently 'equality' is only selective nowadays," one person wrote. "How about a 'men's only' showing of a movie or is that not how equality works?"

There's your "poutrage": some Facebook trolls. The article spends more time shilling Alamo and the movie than reporting on any serious objection to the screening. Here's the extent of CNN's reporting on the actual issue: "That didn't go over well with some men, judging by the comments on the theater's Facebook page."

As reported, it's a real thing that happened. Not an interesting or important thing. But at least a real thing. As discussed here? Total fake news.

What's the fake news here again? Your poutrage over the poutrage was kind of hard to follow.

Poutrage over the poutrage over the poutrage, please. Would you like me to draw you a map?

Or, why not give the CNN article a good read--it jumps around a bit, but it's only a few paragraphs, so hopefully you can manage--and let me know how serious you think the brouhaha is?

Imagine if they had made it a "Men Only" screening.

The concession stand would have had to provide a lot of extra napkins.

As if men would go. I hear it will soon be illegal for men to attend baby showers - boo freakin hoo!
