The Trump Presidency

You can't. I knew that Trump was not aware of the specifics of the FISA, otherwise, Trump would not have dared make his false wire-tapped claim against Obama who simply did not authority to do what Trump had falsely claimed. Trump didn't know the specifics of the FISA because he is ignorant, which once again, is why he cannot present evidence to support his claim because there is no evidence for him to present.

Thank you captain obvious. Which is why most knew what he meant.

They didn't hack voting machines. They didn't give money to campaigns. They hacked into emails and made the information public. The emails they hacked were owned by morons who didn't take security very serious. Any news media outlet would have published the material as many did. Most look at it as a joke. The Dems made it so easy for hackers, its like they were asking them to do it.

Exactly.

And we know all that. Do you not see that the Democrats, starting with Hillary Clinton, know all that? Do you not see why your statements actually support what I was saying, and undermine your, and Trump's, message?

The election was not stolen, and no one among the powerful Democrats are saying it. Sure, you might find people squealing on the internet about it. Maybe Hannity can find some liberal punching bag to say it on his show, but that isn't our narrative. That's the right wing straw man of our narrative.

And when I say "our", I don't mean "Democrats", I mean "people who are concerned about Russian involvement in American elections". It isn't about the outcome of the election. It's about why they were involved.

Whatever they did, the result was, at most, that they might have persuaded Americans to change their votes. That doesn't invalidate the election results in any way. The American people voted the way they felt on (or before) election day, and the votes were counted, and the rules applied, and Trump won. It was a close election, so if the Russians swayed 0.6% of Pennsylvanians, and somewhat smaller numbers in a few other key states, I guess you could say the Russians changed the election outcome, but that's not the point. The point is that they were involved in the election, which means they wanted something. There is also evidence that they were seeking influence with powerful people in the campaign, who might be expected to have influence in the government. If that's going on, we want to know that.

It isn't even about getting Trump out of office, or even about crippling his regime. Ok, let's be fair. If either of those events happened, that would be great, but those would be side effects. The Russian government, which is led by a truly awful person, and which does not have our best interests at heart, really seemed to want a particular outcome of this election, and they seemed to have some sort of contacts with (at least) one side of the election. Why? And did they get anything for their efforts?

Those are worthwhile questions.

Suffer? No. Learn a lesson? Absolutely! And yes, Trump provided every possible warning sign. This isn't Ted Bundy who so many people could hardly believe was this monster since Ted was such a nice guy. No, this is Garry Ridgeway who's coworkers joked was the Green River Killer. I really can't believe how dense people can be. They are all like Little Red Riding hood exclaiming 'Oh what big teeth you have'.

There are exceptions, of course. The guy who lost his son to opioids and trusted Trump to stop it from happening to others? He's been through enough. The woman who voted for Trump, and was then shocked when her husband got shipped to Mexico? I hope she remembers that she helped break up her own family, that she helped harm her own husband and kids, for a long time. The folks that voted for Trump because they think Black Lives Matter is a terrorist/racist group? Yeah, they voted for more black people being senselessly killed. They were presented with the arguments, and they voted for more suffering, so let them take the brunt of it for once.

And maybe, just maybe, they'll learn their lesson that way.

So, it is great that you joined the ACLU. We need it.

It's worth pointing out that the ACLU is likely flooded with money by now, so others should consider donating elsewhere. I joined the national NAACP, but I also contributed to the NC NAACP, which is doing some really great things under Rev. Dr. Barber. I have little idea what the Maryland state and local chapters are up to.

It's always projection with Darth Bozo. Pretty much every time he's accused an opponent of doing something, it turns out that he either did it himself, or he'd be perfectly willing to do so.

You guys might make the bid qualifications for the Bangkok traffic advisory system.

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general/1247778/bma-stands-by-smart-sign-tor

This is not a Poe. They rigged the bidding so that the only person qualified is the person running the system on 15 year old PCs with dual floppy drives. Show of hands.... when was the last time anyone reading this used a floppy? I think the last computer I had that used floppies died in 2004, and it was already a museum piece that I wouldn't give up until the company refused to support it any longer.

Reminds me of the 60 Minutes piece where Leslie Stahl showed the Air Force managing the ICBM's in silos and supposedly ready to go with computers with 5¼ floppies. :faint:

I can't say I agree with this. He's EXACTLY as I expected him to be. I find it ridiculous to think he wouldn't be. Remember when people said he would be 'more presidential' when he won the nomination? He wasn't. In fact I expect it to get considerably worse. Trump is the textbook example of an attention craving troll/whore/monster. The more it he gets fed the bigger the monster.

I'm pretty much in agreement with this.

And this horror flick of insanity is just getting started. Weeee! You just can't wait for what comes next.

Ya know, I never did like horror films. At all.

Yeah, that headline is kind of misleading.

The email releases definitely hurt her. No doubt about that.

Of course.

But would it be fair to simply say, "The email(s) releases definitely hurt her"?

Had there not been emails that made her look bad in the first place, from Podesta for instance, releasing them would have had no effect.

To mangle a popular phrase, isn't this a bit like blaming the messenger?

That you would think removing a sitting president from office would be great, pretty much kills anything else you posted. It's not great, especially over stupid things like this. Of course this is the left, this is what they're about. Another reason it's so much fun defeating your side.

Well, by your own admission the right is about nagging the other side. At least some of us have an interest in making things work, as opposed to spiting our faces by cutting off our noses.

Lol
We're in power, we don't need to nag. That you miss the nagging news media, the nagging Dems and the serious thread nagging here is fascinating.

Sure. There could be no harm if there was nothing harmful in the email in the first place.

To be fair, though, I actually think that what hurt her was not actually the email, but the distortion of those contents. Coming at the time they did there was this deluge of bad press that Hillary could not counter.

Personally, speaking as someone can't stand Donald Trump, and who thought Clinton was a very weak candidate, I blame Hillary for failing to counter it. A better candidate wouldn't have been hurt by those emails, because they really weren't very significant, and a better candidate could have deflected the attack.

Trump was very good at turning mountains into molehills during the campaign, and Hillary was terrible at turning the tables or keeping herself safe from those attacks. However, now that he is president, he's finding that being the center of that sort of attention isn't so easy, and he's handling it very poorly.

I don't know how he managed to get away with it during the campaign, but he did, somehow. Now that he's president, though, there's nowhere to hide. Every little flaw in every statement and every tweet is subject to intense scrutiny, and he just can't take the heat.

How peculiar considering that Hillary got about 2.9 million votes more than Trump and that Trump got the lowest approval rating of any new president. And now, thanks to Trump, the US is losing out to China as well.

TOKYO -- U.S. President Donald Trump's policy, or lack thereof, on Southeast Asia has gutted American credibility, a survey by an influential think tank has found.

Make America great again: Dump Dumb Trump!!

The article is fake news. The precipitous drop to third-world, banana republic status... is being {celebrated|rued} globally. GOP America clearly intends to lead the awesome food fight business; forget "green energy" and other forward-looking stuff; that's for adults losers.

You are wrong: it's a great sign of a working Democracy if even the person in the highest office can be held accountable.

Very true and very timely.
President Trump on Friday warned James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director whom he fired this week, against leaking anything negative about him, saying that Mr. Comey “better hope” that there are no secret tapes of their conversations that the president could use in retaliation.

“For a president who baselessly accused his predecessor of illegally wiretapping him, that Mr. Trump would suggest that he, himself, may have engaged in such conduct is staggering,” said Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.

Allies and former employees of Mr. Trump have long said that he taped some of his own phone calls, as well as meetings in Trump Tower. During the campaign, Mr. Trump’s aides told reporters that they feared their offices were bugged and that they were careful about what they said. Link to NY Times article

There is speculation that one incident Donnie may be referring to is that in January he was reported to have "asked Mr. Comey to pledge loyalty during a dinner at the White House shortly after the inauguration," but Comey refused on the grounds it was inappropriate.

Yes but I think the reference was actually to right-wing authoritarian systems, of the kind the reactionary right seems determined to establish in the U.S.A., in which criticism of the top leader is considered disloyal.

Bad! ;)
