Brilliant Light Power Going To Market - Free Energy Generator

If I recall correctly the plasma inside the dome will be close to 6000 K, but the dome will radiate at only about 3500K. Definitely on the redder side of white. Not sure what distance the cPV cells will be from the dome so don't know the temperature.
You don't know the temperature of the cells and you don't know the incident power density and the graphite dome is radiating off the peak sensitivity of the cells, so the claim that they'll be operating at above 40% efficiency is rubbish, isn't it?

I wonder how long the hypothetical dome in the imaginary apparatus is expected to last, considering graphite evaporates from around 3770 K.

There is a small subset of the academic world that has validated Mills' findings. For the rest of the physical chemistry academic world, they either don't know about it, or are content to wait and see. You far overestimate the responsiveness of academia to external challenge and change. They are largely preoccupied with their own matters.
Utter rubbish. Do you know how many labs around the world attempted to independently verify the Pons and Fleischmann claims? Do you know how many published the results of their independent verifications? If academia think there is something revolutionary in claims they'll drop everything to test it. In this case they don't, because apart from a few paid shills, everyone who is qualified can see what complete garbage Mills's claims are.

ETA: Multiply ninja'd up-thread.

He has sent hydrino hydride compounds to many labs.

Also, Rowan University has the knowhow of how to produce and detect hydrino themselves, which they have done.
Reference to a peer reviewed paper in a reputable journal demonstrating the existence of hydrinos please?

We confirmed that hydrino was the product of any excess electricity observed by three analytical tests on the cell products, and determined that BlackLight Power had achieved fifty times higher power density with stabilization of the electrodes from corrosion.” Dr. Terry Copeland, who managed product development for several electrochemical and energy companies including DuPont Company and Duracell added, “Dr. James Pugh (then Director of Technology at ENSER) and Dr. Ethirajulu Dayalan participated with me in the independent tests of CIHT cells at The ENSER Corporation’s Pinellas Park facility in Florida starting on November 28, 2012. We fabricated and tested CIHT cells capable of continuously producing net electrical output that confirmed the fifty-fold stable power density increase and hydrino as the product.”

Again, that is the kind of validation you might give to a very mundane technical claim. Do you realize how significant such a new state of hydrogen would be? True scientific validation of such a thing would be the publication of tests (with full details so they can be replicated and their diligence examined) in a peer-reviewed scientific journal and if done properly would go straight into a leading publication. There would be leading scientists all over it before it had hit the press. The mainstream media would be reporting it. And people would be checking out flights to and hotels in Stockholm. Not some half-arsed rubber stamping by scientific consultants who have been paid by the company making the grand claims. Honest and impartial scientific consultants would be peeing their pants in excitement over the whole deal.

It is striking how in many ways this revolutionary technology and the paradigm shaking scientific discovery upon which it is founded are portrayed so mundanely by its supporters.

Hydrino can emit photons. Not from the electrons going to another orbital level, but from the smaller electron spin energy differences and molecular rotational vibrational energy differences.
In the visible and the ultraviolet?!! Put that spade down.

And rovibrational transitions is not what the patent claims.

The thing that really strikes me about that press release is why doesn't the "unrelated highly qualified third party" want to be identified by name?

Right. But it's not their discovery to make a fuss about. They are only confirming.

In addition to the comments above, this statement in laughably ignorant on another level as well: Imagining that "Finding the hydrino" is the only "discovery" that replicating BLP's work could lead to, so why bother if it's already been found?

As we've pointed out many times before in this thread, if the hydrinos were real, they would inevitably lead to many world-shattering discoveries, all of which have been ignored by BLP, and any one of which would be more than enough to build a career on for an up-and-coming science student. So the idea that such students wouldn't be interested because "It's already been done" is nonsense.

Others have mentioned the interest in Cold Fusion that was shown back in the day. My favorite example is contemporaneous with that: High temperature superconductors. Ceramic based HTCs were discovered in the late 80s, and instead of everyone else going "Drat, they beat us to it!", they instead spawned a vigorous research community that is still producing new work today.

A single, ground-breaking discovery is the start of the scientific work, not the end of it.

If the discovery is real, of course.

To be fair Mills hasn't ignored the many other properties of hydrinos such as his claim they will lead to anti-gravity....

Right. But it's not their discovery to make a fuss about. They are only confirming.

They're not looking for confrontation, they are too busy for that, they have their own university work to do. In one of the videos, I recall Dr. Ramanujachary saying that his published hydrino work did not garner a single email response from his colleagues.

Seriously?

That's seriously the rationalization you're going with?

You can kick and scream that it's not 'independent', but the work of validation is nonetheless done, and by qualified entities.

Yet he has provided hydrinos to many labs..... You keep contradicting yourself.

This one particular criticism is unfair. He's saying that BLP isn't providing the all information needed to replicate, from scratch, the current engine they're working on, because that engine's design is covered by a mixture of patents and trade secrets, and they don't want to give away the trade secrets; this isn't a problem with merely providing samples of hydrinos.

Wait, wait, wait. Quoting Robert L. Park, via way of Wikipedia:

Unlike most schemes for free energy, the hydrino process of Randy Mills is not without ample theory. Mills has written a 1000 page tome, entitled, "The Grand Unified Theory of Classical Quantum Mechanics", that takes the reader all the way from hydrinos to antigravity.

Mills claims to have not only figured out a theory behind anti-gravity, but to have done so via a modification to quantum mechanics, meaning that he's unified gravity with quantum mechanics, but other physicists aren't making a fuss over it because it isn't their discovery?!

No, he hasn't modified quantum mechanics. He's "proven" that it's bogus. The quantum realm, according to Mills, can be mapped via classical physics. People who follow Mills call people who believe in quantum mechanics "quantumists".

The rank stupidity of the overall claim is quite gobsmacking. If there any truth to any of the claims in that bloated valise of nonsense it would provide more than enough new avenues of research to make several careers. You'd be hard-pressed to find a scientist who refused to earn themselves a Nobel prize just because it was arrived from someone else's work. Indeed, science by its very nature is based upon standing on the shoulders of giants. How many careers derived from the work of Newton or Einstein?
