Which is not to say that it's not a slap in the face for NATO and a clear signal from the Trump administration but it doesn't seem to be clueless omnishambles that Dan Shapiro implies.
 
Supossedely Trump wants Tillerson on hand for the meeting with the Chinese President.
IMHO this is more of an accidental insult then a deliberate snub.
 
Apparently Trump, with his "Vote for the Medical Bill or lose in 2018" statement just declared war on the Conservative wing of his own party,since it was aimed primarly at them.

It might be an accident, but it's a result of the Trump administration lack of understanding of what it takes to run the government. As Dan Shapiro pointed out, if they had staffed the State department it wouldn't such a big deal, there would be a deputy available.

But you start staffing one department and you will start having to staff them all. Then will they be?
 
The head of the Freedom Congress ,after Trump's threat,told him ,says that Trump and Ryan do not have the votes to pass Obamacare reform, and as to the threat, pretty much told Trump to go to hell. This might have impacts beyond the Medical care bill,if it indicates a big rupture between Trump and the conservative wing of the GOP.
