Massive Wave of Hate Crimes against minorities follows Trump election.

I was sarcastically attempting to adopt the position of several others in this thread who have been struggling mightily to dismiss any and all evidence of hate crimes or an increase of them.

I admit I haven't read the thread closely, but my take on it is that some people are trying to dispute the meme that Trump is responsible for any increase in hate crimes since his election. I think that's a fair position to hold since there have been other increases in the last decade and the same people aren't holding President Obama responsible for the increase.

If anything, in this specific case (the threats against Jewish centers and vandalizing Jewish cemeteries), I really don't see any reason to hold Trump responsible. Trump, for all his other innumerable faults, is certainly friendlier to the Jewish people and Israel than President Obama ever was.

So just to re-cap. 8 or so of these Jewish center bomb threats were committed by a genuine leftist fake news reporter.

Of these hate crimes that have been solved. It has to be something like 9 out of 10 turn out to be fake.

Not having read much of the thread either, I'm very much of the opinion that people should be responsible for their own actions.

I have no problem in saying that Trump is a vile man (I could go on) but the idea he made anybody do anything (aside from maybe his wife, I don't know or want to imagine) is absurd.

It's like in the UK where we are instructed to believe that the blame for beating up a Polish man or egging a Jew should not be on the thug responsible, but on a political process or named politician.

I haven't read the entire thread could you point out who was doing what you say. I was under the impression that the op was struggling mightily to connect Trump to any and all hate crimes and to conflate the numbers. I feel like several of the posters you are talking about were trying to show how ridiculous that notion is. Would that be a more accurate assessment?

I certainly don't read it like that. Posts 944 and 945, for instance, still appear to me to be attempting to dismiss hate crimes.

But those 10% are really really naughty

Well of course. A genuine attack is never going to be fake. But these bomb threats and swastica drawings. They're easy and surely almost exclusively done by leftists.

They are almost all fake. Almost everytime I hear about them they end up fake. Last week I heard about 5. One because Sarah Silverman tweeted it out. Another was a bomb threat against a Canadian University. One was this fake lefty reporter. The other two I heard of were acts of graveyard vandalism. The first 3 were all used to slander the right and turned out fake. Never heard anything on the graveyard vandalism.

This is week after week. I see a few incidents in the news and almost all end up fake.

Thank you. This should clear up any confusion on jeffas69's part. Although, I must point out, several other posters appear to share your opinion.

Caper made a post on the first page of this thread that is titled: Massive wave of Hate Crimes against minorities follows trump election. I am going to assume that post number 944 is a continuation of his "trying to show how ridiculous that notion is" instead of "struggling mightily to dismiss any and all evidence of hate crimes or an increase of them." If he agrees with you then I will concede it.

If there is any confusion in this thread it is due to its ridiculous title. I for one would like it to be changed to a more accurate description of a social issue and current event.

Well there's your problem!

I guess we're just going to have to agree to disagree on whether a claim of "they are almost all fake" is dismissing hate claims or not, as I cannot see how it could be read any other way.

Or you could read it as it is. They are almost all fake. True and not necessarily dismissive of the the rest. Some of which could be Trump's fault indirectly. Others that may be an indictment of the divide of the entire country that has been going on for decades. I am happy to wait for Caper to clarify or leave it at that.

When we get 8 out of about 100 bomb threats that are accounted for (because a nutjob latched onto an existing campaign in order to frame his ex girlfriend), and the response is "they are almost all fake", I don't see how the "almost" makes it not dismissive.

Waiting for evidence to come out about the rest before calling them hate crimes in light of all the "fake" ones is not dismissing them.
