To put it mildly.

Woohoo, 8 out of 100 have been accounted for, we can call them all fake!
Like I said, yay, we can now dismiss around 92 out of 100 because one guy did 8! Go skepticism! They were able to link 8 of them to him. He may be responsible for more. Since there are no arrests in any others we can still assume some or all of them may possibly also be fake.
Technically since I have not heard about any actual bombs being found, then they were all fake threats.

Maybe they are all bogus, maybe they are all hate crimes. Probably some mixture of the two or other reasons. I would think a skeptic would wait and follow the evidence...or not.Like I said, yay, we can now dismiss around 92 out of 100 because one guy did 8! Go skepticism!

Fake threats still have real consequences.
Fake threats still have real consequences.
I am aware of that. I am also on record saying that "fake" hate crimes should be prosecuted the same as true hate crimes.
Actually, I think that making phony bomb threats the way Thompson did is a crime regardless of motive.
This is a guy who took imaginary trips to Cuba and Senegal. He dubiously claimed he was with the Standing Rock protesters in North Dakota and that he'd bought a house in Detroit. He lied about the weirdest things.
...
At the Riverfront Times, we published a cover story about Thompson last February. He was a north St. Louis native who was once a reporter with a job at The Intercept in New York City, a news site best-known for its cache of documents from national security leaker Edward Snowden. But Thompson had been fired after the site caught him making up details and sending bogus emails, including some masquerading as the site's editor.
Thompson blamed racism and also claimed to have cancer. But we uncovered additional problems with his work, going all the way back to his college days with the student newspaper at Vassar College, a prestigious university in Poughkeepsie, New York. Thompson had overcome an impoverished background to attend college there, but failed to graduate. He still landed a few good media jobs — only to crash and burn when his sourcing didn't check out.
Boy, that pompous gasbag Greenwald sure can pick em, can't he? At least his well financed Intercept finally fired him, when cornered. Nice background check on his fraudulent work history, Glenn.

Current US tax policy fails to recognize the inherent economic disadvantages that PoC face on a daily basis. Racist employers, a disproportionate targeting of minorities by law enforcement, racial wage gaps, poor inner city schools; these all contribute to what is an undeniable reality for minorities. A reality that equates to an unfair economic disadvantage.
To even the playing field, the privileged should pay more.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A student at a metro high school faces disciplinary action after putting racist graffiti on a bathroom stall.
According to Lakeville Area Public Schools, racist, anti-Semitic graffiti was found*on stalls at Lakeville South High School Monday.
“We take these matters seriously and strive to create a safe, welcoming environment for all students in our schools,” the district said in a statement. “Our maintenance staff has begun work to repair the damage and we will use this as a teachable moment where possible.”
The district said they could not comment further due to the confidential nature of student discipline.

I was sarcastically attempting to adopt the position of several others in this thread who have been struggling mightily to dismiss any and all evidence of hate crimes or an increase of them.I sincerely doubt that's the position that law enforcement is taking. Yes, these threats were "fake" in the sense that the idiot making them had no means to actually carry them out, but that doesn't mean that others wouldn't. There very well may be some BDS group members that are actually prepared to strike a blow against the "Jewish occupiers" in the name of Palestinian freedom.
But even "fake" threats should still be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. They still require law enforcement resources to investigate and still cause fear to the people that they're aimed at.
