Zimbabwe’s 92-year-old president, Robert Mugabe, should run “as a corpse” in next year’s election if he dies before the vote, his wife has said.

Grace Mugabe accused some ruling Zanu-PF party officials of plotting to take over from her husband and said that if he dies supporters should put his name on the ballot to show their love for him.

“If God decides to take him, then we would rather field him as a corpse,” she told thousands of supporters at a rally in Buhera, eastern Zimbabwe. She spoke in the local Shona language.

The president, who will be 93 on Tuesday, has scaled back his public engagements, while his wife, who is 51, has become increasingly visible in politics.

Will his rotting carcass host and entertain foreign dignities? Maybe they can move his corpse like you would a puppet.

Obviously a Power Play be his wife. How do you think she will stay in power otherwise?

Gotta admit, I'm all in favor of this. Him being a corpse, at any rate.

There's even a precedent! John Ashcroft was only appointed Attorney General because he was defeated for re-election to the US Senate by a dead guy.

I don't like the way Mugabe used North Korean troops for massacres in Zimbabwe in the 1980s, which was unreported in the mainstream media in Britain and America. It's only because Mugabe doesn't tolerate any opposition that he gets away with it and is then given a state visit to visit the Queen. Rhodesia was prospering when the white farmers were there. Now all there is is Mugabe junk hyperinflation economics, and unemployment, supposedly caused by lazyitis, and lavish birthday parties for Mugabe every year. As the former Rhodesian prime minister Godfrey Huggins. or Lord Malvern, once said, the UK government is in for a heavy jolt when European influence disappears in Africa.

She should be looking at life in exile options. The Whoever take over for Old Bob leading ZANU PF may not see her presence as a positive.

I'm a fan of neither Mugabe nor North Korea, but that seems a somewhat distorted version of what actually happened.

That's sheer ignorance of the facts. I don't suppose Donald Trump gets it either. It's like these million pound compensations to ISIS members, and cuts and closure economics, and the vital matter of housing are never reported by the mainstream media. Bugging, and embezzlement in the charity and overseas aid business as well. Unemployment is supposed to be caused by lazyitis.

The matter is explained in this article. British intelligence agencies knew all about it and about North Korean involvement:

ZIMBABWE 5TH BRIGADE
The Fifth Brigade was an elite unit of specially trained Zimbabwean soldiers. The Fifth Brigade was formed in 1981 and disbanded in 1988 after allegations of brutality and murder during the Brigade's occupation of Matabeleland. It was reformed later and was active in 2006 at least. In October 1980, President Robert Mugabe signed an agreement with the North Korean President, Kim Il Sung, that they would train and equip a brigade for the Zimbabwe National Army. In August 1981, 106 North Koreans arrived to train the new brigade.

The members of the Fifth Brigade were drawn from 3500 ex-ZANLA troops, including two unintegrated ZANLA battalions, at Tongogara Assembly Point. There were a few ZIPRA troops in the unit initially, but they were withdrawn before the end of the training. It has been reported that there were also some foreigners in the unit, possibly Tanzanians. The training of Fifth Brigade lasted until September 1982, when Minister Sekeramayi announced training was complete.

It does not occur to Mnangagwa and to Zanu PF that this which appears like peace in the deprived region of Matabeleland is not peace but silence. Mnangagwa is blind to the truth that Gukurahundi victims know that even if the guns stopped in 1987, the genocide continues in other means. The occupation of Matabele ancestral lands by settlers from Mashonaland; the de-industrialisation of the region; the denial of water from the Zambezi; the killing of the language and culture of the people.

Not according to the piece you've posted, which quite clearly states that Zimbabwean and possibly Tanzanian troops actually carried out the massacres after being trained and equipped by North Koreans. If your information is correct, your statement that "Mugabe used North Korean troops for massacres in Zimbabwe in the 1980s" is self-evidently a distortion of the facts, in that it replaces "North Korean trained and equipped troops," which would have featured in a correct statement, with "North Korean troops," thus making it an incorrect one.

Not that I know anything about this; I'm just pointing out that the evidence you've posted in support of your position actually contradicts your position and supports Information Analyst's, and that this is self-evident from simply reading your post.

Lots of words confirming Information Analyst's statement. The Fifth Brigade was trained by N Koreans, not composed of N Koreans.

Any massacres were carried out by Zimbabweans.
