US Officially Blames Russia

A plea bargain to felony charges usually keeps you from getting a good job. Not sure why it would be an asset here. And for the record, I really liked Petraeus and was very upset when that scandal broke.

Agreed.
Though I think what Flynn did was much worse. Patreus made a stupid mistake without really intending to hurt his country;FLynn apparently was ready to undermine democracy to insure a win for his boss.

Awkward.

President Trump was informed weeks ago that his national security adviser, Michael T. Flynn, had not told the truth about his interactions with Russia’s ambassador and asked for Mr. Flynn’s resignation after concluding he could not be trusted, the White House said on Tuesday.

I eagerly await the convoluted and strained explanations from Trump's apologists explaining to us why it is that this demonstration of abject failure is not as severe a security issue as the (not) classified emails which may or may not have been hacked from Hillary's email server.

An explanation which I expect will once again reduce to "When a Republican does it, that means it's okay."

At least it will provide some momentary amusement.

This abject failure very well could be a severe security issue.

However, I don't think it's wise to compare the possible severity of this current issue to the Clinton Email scandal, since after review, the FBI did not find any information that would warrant any charges being brought against Sec. Clinton.

The law applies equally to all, including my fellow Republicans. There are no free passes simply because a potential crime has been committed by someone who happens to belong to the same political party.

Sorry, I guess someone else will have to fulfill your need for momentary amusement.

Well, he's been punished for his mistakes. The security risk he represents should be looked at prospectively. I think it's not unreasonable to believe that he will adhere to the rules diligently going forward.

As to Hillary, she has gotten away with her crimes time and time again. That tends to have the opposite effect with respect to following the rules in the future.
Which crimes relevant to this security discussion has she gotten away with, exactly? :D
Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

The most obvious one was obstruction of justice, when she told FBI agents she didn't know what the multiple little (c) (s) and (ts) in front of paragraphs in documents meant.

FFS, she would have seen multiple documents and presentations every freaking day that included those.

Start with this thread. Move on to the two continuation threads. To get to the crux of the matter search for posts written by sunmaster14. That guy really nailed it.
Not going on a goose chase.

You don't have, say, a simple bullet list of "crimes" "she has gotten away with" "time and time again" off the top of your head, would you?

Obstruction for materials that were not even classified at the time? Nope. Try again.

From what we've seen, none of the information in Hillary Clinton's email that was classified at the time bore classification headers and footers like they are supposed to. Even James Comey himself agreed that it would be reasonable for an "expert" in classified information to infer that lack of a header or footer means the information isn't classified. There were some "portion markings" in Hillary Clinton's emails from call sheets that weren't actually classified. They're confidential before Secretary Clinton makes the call. But the moment she decides to make the call, the call sheets are no longer classified, regardless of whether or not someone left the "(C)" portion markings in the body of the document or not.

Trump's National Security Adviser was just forced to resign due to his illicit ties to Russia that he lied about, and the Heil Trumpers still can't bring themselves to criticise Dear Leader and instead frantically try to deflect by complaining that Obama told the country that a mission he ordered successfully killed Bin Laden (*********** seriously?!) and whining some more about Clinton.

It's not a wild goose chase. I'm just tired of having to reinvent the wheel time after time. I probably have 400 posts in that thread, almost all of which were substantive and well-supported. All of my work on the topic is there. Hillary violated a felony statute when she was grossly negligent in her handling of classified materials ("extremely careless" in Comey's words, but it means precisely the same thing). She violated another felony statute when she delivered classified materials (thousands of her emails) to people not authorized to have them, including her lawyers, her IT guy, and the good people at Platte River Networks in Colorado.

She almost certainly lied to federal investigators (although hard to prove), and she obstructed justice by having her people delete emails after it was clear they would be subpoena'ed (and, in fact, emails were even deleted after a subpoena issued). She almost certainly lied to Congress as well (although, once again, lying is hard to prove).

She clearly violated regulations promulgated pursuant to the Federal Records Act, and did so with clear intent to circumvent it, as well as the Freedom of Information Act. It's debatable whether that is an actual crime, although I suspect that conspiring to willfully circumvent federal regulations is (which she did).

Of course, those are only crimes related to her email practices while serving as Secretary of State. She committed lots of crimes before 2009. The first one I am aware of is taking a $100,000 bribe by way of cattle futures trading from her futures broker.

You only beclown yourself when you refer to fellow forum members as Heil Trumpers.

ETA: Also, you have no basis for using the term "illicit." It's not clear at all that Flynn violated any law. In fact, there is little reason to believe he did so.

The records stuff was illegal, but not criminal. It's something that the government uses to fire people. But the Democrats thought it wasn't important and nominated her anyways.

No, things like your continuing defense of Trump's and even Flynn make it crystal clear that the label I use is entirely deserved.

Which is, of course, why even Republican members of Congress are calling for an investigation into his ties with Russia.

Wait, wait...let me guess: they're all actually leftist libs too, right?

Spicer just said at the morning News Conference that Trump had been "incredibly tough on Russia". No one is taking him seriously .In private, even the GOP congressmen have got to be snickering at him.
