Disgraceful! Richard Spencer Sucker-Punched While Giving Interview

It was a punch thrown earlier in the day, photos only - no video. It appears that Punch Richard Spencer is the new Planking or Mannequin Challenge. "Let's put the mob back in Flash Mob!"

@anarchists,
I have no respect for your anonymity. Sorry. The phrase "anonymous cowards" comes to mind. I like my heroes to have the courage of their convictions. Had I lost it and punched Richard Spencer, I'd be turning myself in and milking it. Is the point just to punch Richard Spencer? That seems a silly goal. You want to make a statement, walk up to him and announce yourself and do the deed then pay the price. This hit-and-run while hiding behind masks is no better than the Klan.

But isn't that antithetic to anarchist thinking? They see virtually all forms of govt as unworkable, so wouldn't turning yourself in be equivalent to surrendering to the enemy?

If that is true it's a matter for the police, and we still must presume Spencer innocent until proven guilty of any crimes. But, as so often applies to liberals, rule of law for thee and not for me.

I'm pretty sure the guy who punched Spencer isn't a liberal. Something akin to the following tends to be the furthest liberals get in militant anti-fascism:

Liberal: Hey, we're all on the left, let's work together!
Leftist: Sure, we're just about to mask up and fight Nazis, you can come along if you want.
Liberal, already on the phone with the cops: Yes, I'd like to report a crime.

The labelmaker store called, and they're running out of you.

Well your post has made it clear you have zero concern about civil liberties.

Do you know what would have happened if Germany cracked down on the anti-democratic forces of Nazism before 1933?

Hitler would have never rose to power.

Just sayin'.

I respect people who disagree with me in a peaceful fashion.

Folks who advocate violence, ethnic cleansing, racist legislation, are not to be respected.

The 1st Amendment is NOT a suicide pact.

We are under no obligation to defend the democratic rights of those who seek to destroy democracy and replace it with a Fascist state.

Did you mean to prove the point that you are unconcerned with civil liberties?

Considering how Weimar had a 0% approval rating during the Great Depression it would have thrown Germany into civil war.

In terms of legalities, sure. The 1st is involved however, in that the vigilantes (and posters) don't recognize his free speech rights.

Is he still capable of speaking, gesturing, writing, etc?

What he has to say might be the motive for a person feeling justified in violating his physical safety, but that isn't the same thing.

And now you switch to non-legalistic. That is, you're not in alignment with the law here.

The law is what it is.

What I'm saying is that he cannot invoke a philosophical right to safety if he insists others should not have that right. Well, I mean he 'can', but only as a blatant hypocrite.

And of course they DID crack down on the Nazis.

Hitler began to write Mein Kampf in prison.

People seem to think that Weimar Germany was like a modern democracy. Except it had little to no legitimacy among the German Public, especially with the Versailles Treaty it signed (Article 231 was considered especially odious due to the fact that it singularly blamed Germany for WW1, and suspiciously omitted Serbia's role in Franz Ferdinand's murder).
