President Trump

Many women "allow" sexual assault because they are afraid of the consequences of reporting it.

And some women make false reports.

Taking those two together, we see why, as skeptics proud of the title, we prefer to have more evidence than the he-said/she-said variety before coming to even a provisional conclusion.

He-said/she-said generally involves contrary versions of events. Here, they tell the same story. That's got to be worth something.

Yep, when it's "he-said..then took it back as locker room talk/she-said" what she-said has more weight to it.

Except there are women who accuse Trump of doing precisely what he said he does. IIRC one of those accusations pre-dated the video.
Seems tempting to just accept it then. But I'm not going to do that. Until or unless more evidence comes (non-anecdotal) I'm going to stay with both parties being opportunistic liars. Or that both are exaggerating to such a degree that their claim is invalid.

It's not worth chasing after me to get me to change my mind on this. I'm just one guy on a forum with an opinion.

Surprise, surprise, Trump will never release his tax returns.
I didn't think he would but now they are admitting it. Previously he had said that he would release them once the audit was complete.

Trump won’t release his tax returns because people don’t care, top adviser says

A senior aide to President Trump said Sunday that he has no plans to release his tax returns, a marked shift from Trump’s pledge during the campaign to make them public once an audit was completed.

“The White House response is that he’s not going to release his tax returns,” said Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president, on ABC’S “This Week.” “We litigated this all through the election.”

“People didn’t care,” Conway added. “They voted for him, and let me make this very clear: Most Americans are — are very focused on what their tax returns will look like while President Trump is in office, not what his look like.”

Presidents are not required to release their tax returns, but presidents dating back to Richard Nixon have routinely done so voluntarily.

A Washington Post-ABC poll last week showed that Trump’s continued refusal to release his tax returns continues to be an unpopular decision, with 74 percent of Americans saying he should make the documents public, including 53 percent of Republicans.

He promised at first to release them. Then it was he can't release them while he's being audited (even though that wasn't really a good reason). Now it's he won't release them because nobody cares.

“I've been audited every year, 12 years or something like that,” Trump said. " I will absolutely give my return but I'm being audited now for two or three now so I can't do it until the audit is finished obviously, and I think people would understand that.”

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump is sticking to his new explanation for why he can't yet release copies of his recent tax returns: The IRS is auditing him, as Trump says it has for the past 12 years.

"No lawyer would ever allow you to release a tax return while you're being audited," the front-runner to be the Republican presidential nominee said in an interview Saturday on the Fox News Channel. "As soon as the audits are finished, I have no problem. There is no bombshell whatsoever."

Surprise, surprise, Trump will never release his tax returns.

I honestly wonder how people who voted for him take this news.

Of course, most of us knew he wasn't going to, but did his supporters believe him? A lot are totally unconcerned about him not releasing them. Heck, I'm totally unconcerned about it myself. I don't care if he ever releases them, and I don't think politicians should be required to do so, even if they are elected president.

However, some people do care, and he lied about it in order to get elected. He played people for chumps. Idiots who believed what he said repeated his lines. I'll bet I could find quotes on this forum repeating his lines during the campaign. Well folks, I hate to say it, either you knew he never would, in which case you were lying, or you believed him, in which case you are chumps.

How does it make you feel? Betrayed? Like you were in on the joke? I really wonder.

If he lost, he wouldn't release them because he lost, it doesn't matter.
He won, so he won't release them because he won, it doesn't matter.

Heads, I win. Tails, you lose.

They will never admit that they were duped. They will say, instead, "it never really mattered." Heck, they have openly stated that they don't care that Trump lies because "all politicians lie" and "Trump is just a BS'er, not a dishonest liar, like Hillary."

Give Conway her due. She doesn't lie. She distracts, but she doesn't out and out lie.

Spicer, on the other hand. ...

"Alternative facts" is certainly a lie. Conway does out and out lie, but she changes the subject so quickly that interviewers can't keep up. I remember one pre-election moment on Rachel Maddow when she claimed she wasn't at a meeting that Maddow had video of her attending, and she went into a song and dance about "That meeting? Oh, I meant I wasn't at a different meeting...." We should never forget that she got Trump to the White House, and she'll do anything to keep him there.

I was genuinely surprised that his refusal to release his tax returns didn't hurt him more with voters. Another example of how his decision to reject politics as usual worked in his favor. I really believe that we'll see more Republican hopefuls following his example going forward. I'll be interested in seeing how many run as "Trump Republicans" in the mid-terms.

Good point. Plus, to spin Trump innocent (which I have attempted) we need to trust his ability to see into another's mind (the woman involved). In the he-said/she-said calculus, she has a perspective with more weight.

I miss religion. In religion we get to withdraw and believe God will sort it out eventually. As an atheist, I am denied the remedy of final judgement. Bummer.

She's probably right. I don't care about Trump's tax returns. I doubt I would even understand them.

ETA: And for the record, I don't care about Hillary's emails either.

according to some, Clinton's emails contain proof that she had people whacked and runs a child-prostitution ring.
You wouldn't want to know if this is true?

No, a punch happens too fast. If someone gropes you, you have the option of pushing the hand away, objecting verbally, or punching the *******. None of these behaviors fall into the category of "they let you". If someone sucker punches you, you didn't let them do it, they just did it.

If someone punches you and you don't do anything about it, it means you wanted them to punch you. Hand speed is irrelevant.

You kidding? That's the kind of thing they love him for.

Maybe. If they find something to report, then I'll listen like anyone else who catches the news. It's just that I don't expect people (Hillary, Donald, or me) to just give up the incriminating evidence on a platter. Let some investigative journalist dig it up. Or not. If their shenanigans don't rise to the level of getting caught without the hidden documents, then they weren't shenaniganing enough to get caught.

ETA: Hillary is a lawyer. Trump hires lawyers. Presumably they know what they can legally get away with. What we are actually talking about is offenses in the court of public opinion. I think a lot of us are tired of the back-and-forth slander and allegations. Wake me up when someone is on their way to jail.
