I will laugh if Trump pardons Assange ... and cites this as precedent.
Assange hasn't been convicted of any crimes.

Will you argue with me about how he is an enemy of not being raped and not being compromised by the Kremlin?Assange hasn't been convicted of any crimes.

Does the US even have a warrant for his arrest?

Whatever additional spin, you want to make sure we focus on your favorite spin?Regardless of whatever additional spin people wish to put on this, for the moment I would hope we could focus on the Collateral Murder tape that Manning enabled us to see, and thank God the end of the savage punishment has come.
This will be my only post in this thread. I have better things to do today than argue with a bunch of mostly people who know nothing about armed combat.
As seen on Twitter:
It's a commutation, not a pardon. Seven years in prison, much of it in solitary.
Why does he have to wait till May?
That's what I was trying to convey by posting the wiki link but some people have no patience or respect for due diligence so yeah read the *********** wiki article and then... i dont care after that
This is a very complicated issue and not one that's going to be resolved by those who have not ever been in combat commenting on the video's accuracy of depicting anything.
This is a lesson for journalists who go around "free lance" on the battlefield of their own accord. They are responsible for what happens to them, not those who might mistake them or their equipment for enemy combatants or their possession of weapons.
You don't like it. Then don't ever send the US Military into War. This sort of **** happens. US Military Commanders do everything they possible can to avoid civilian casualties, but sometimes it is simply not avoidable.
For aviators, both Helicopters and fast moving jet operators, their worst nightmare is killing or injuring their own soldiers. This happens too.

Why do people come here trying to vent? It's like trying to go for reassurance from Dr. Phil. HILARIOUS
Maybe because the trial started beginning of June?
Thank you for reminding folks of that, and that's why I am not too bothered about this. As Reheat said, my gut feel due to the damage he did is that he should have been executed -- but that was NOT his sentence and I don't get a vote on that. He either rots in prison a while longer, or doesn't. Plenty of folks in high office have done a variety of bad crap and didn't do any jail time. The difference, just to be clear: A pardon basically means that you're free and clear, and considered not guilty. A commutation means that you are still considered guilty, but you'll serve less time than was originally given to you.

The President can do this, and did. That's how it works, next item.
He's a she now.
