President Trump

Now Trump is saying he's going to get a trade agreement done with the UK within a few days of taking office.

More talking out his ass and another display of his ignorance. But it's what got him elected. Take a very complex issue and boil it down to an impossible to fulfill promise for consumption of the masses.

Repeal Obamacare and replace within a week.
Build a wall and have Mexico pay for it.
Restore coal jobs

No its called BS. Let him prove it!

Sorry <snip> Didn't take any photos.

<snip> here's the thing:

At one point in time, conservatives at least had the decency to pretend they were in politics for the common person. Their speeches and proposals were tailored to show their love of country and their fellow American.

Today, conservatives have dropped all pretense of caring about anything other than their bottom line. They don't care about people or their struggles. They certainly don't care about our soldiers, or keeping their Christian values.

While I respect Lewis for his 1960's historic activity, to call Trump an illegitimate President Elect is shameful and borderline treasonous...
Sign me up for borderline execution. I also question the legitimacy.

It's not as if Lewis (or I) are advocating armed insurrection. We are exercising our free speech rights. That you view this sort of speech as borderline treason says more about you than it does Lewis.

Neither Russia nor anyone else have been proven to have interfered with the voting process itself. All the hacking did was expose the Democrap shenanigans behind the scenes.
I think Russia's actions swung the election. (Among other factors. In a super close election, there are many factors.) Questioning the legitimacy of the election impresses me as highly non controversial, given Russia's illegal, impactful pro-Trump involvement. However, since there's no concept of a do-over, it amounts to toothless opinion.

Did whomever hacked the Dems have any hacked info at all on the RNC or Trump?
Both sides were hacked by the Russians, according to the experts. We may never know what goodies they got from the GOP, because Russia's involvement was partisan.

And Lewis's arguments aren't third grade pouting? Trump is just meeting him where he is and giving him some great advice. ;)

No. Lewis did not attack Trump's reality TV show. He said he thought Trump was illegitimate because of Russian (and FBI? don't recall) interference. This is relevant.

I don't think Lewis should have said that. I think it's troublesome, though if we find hard evidence of collusion between Trump and Russia, I'll change my tune.

But Trump's response was a dull-witted irrelevancy based on stunning ignorance. If you think that Lewis was wrong about Trump's illegitimacy, then you address that point. If you're a petulant third-grader, you change the subject to something that you think will hurt Lewis.

Not following you here.

Don't discount the idea that Lewis meant to evoke the exact response Trump gave him. That's not fun, but it is a protest strategy that has served many people well over the years, and Lewis is not known to have gone soft.

To be sure, the Russian hacking of the GOP seems less intrusive than their hacking of the DNC. I've not heard any clear claims that the primary server of the GOP was compromised.

How exactly would he go about proving that he voted for conservatives? You don't want him to prove it. You just want to maintain your belief about him.

Its obvious what your politics is.

Only because you rely on caricatures of the people you interact with. If you made any sort of effort to understand what people around you believe in and why, you might learn something, and learning things is dangerous for your beliefs.

What is this? Are you trying to start a tu quoque argument? This thread is about Trump, not Obama.
Not so fast.

Lewis has some facts on his side, whereas Trump had none. If Lewis is guilty of "borderline treason", Trump is flat-out guilty of treason. Impeachment proceedings should commence on day one, according to your logic.

It is not a tu quoque to ask whether one's opinions are consistent.

Consider it asking for clarification regarding the principles behind the conclusion.

It is interesting to watch Trump supporters ape his behavior en masse.

Just kidding. It's not really interesting at all. I'd rather watch a dead skunk rot.

I'd rather watch his supporters rot. Skunks aren't evil or mean on purpose.

Like Meryl Streep, African-American history is over-rated.

Not really - in either case. It has just been long ignored. Fortunately, not by me. And not by some others. I came into it heaviest from the film business end and immediate hatred of the KKK when I first learned of it's existence back in the late 50's. At the moment, Trump is very under-hated. I am quite sure that will change over the next year or so and he will be well and roundly hated by then.

Probably already posted here or elsewhere, but this is alarming:

European leaders shocked as Trump slams NATO and E.U., raising fears of transatlantic split

I do not care if the GOP thinks there are deficiencies in policy or whatever that need adjusting. You simply do not do geopolitics like this unless you are hell-bent on war, or pre-emptively giving Putin everything he could ever possible wish for. If Trump is not seriously compromised by Russian intel, then Ben Carson must've operated on his brain with an eggbeater. That, GOPers, or you have yourselves a certified idiot in the White House. Again.

Alec Baldwin went after Donald Trump again on Saturday Night Live, mocking Trump's recent press conference and making veiled references to the allegations Trump paid Russian prostitutes to urinate.
“I’m going to bring back a thick stream of jobs back to this country — the biggest, strongest, steadiest stream you’ve ever seen,” the faux President said. “This country will literally be showered with jobs because I am a major whiz at jobs. This will be a golden opportunity for me as President to make a splash.”

As the New York Daily News said, in reporting the story (News story link), Trump apparently "never misses an episode," and the Trumpmeister tweeted yesterday:
“.@NBCNews is bad but Saturday Night Live is the worst of NBC,” Trump tweeted around 6 p.m. Sunday. “Not funny, cast is terrible, always a complete hit job. Really bad television!”

Has someone ever explained to Trump that every President and Presidential candidate has been the subject of humor since the show's inceptions? Every. Single. One!

Trump stumping for Putin's most cherished dream to become reality?

Gosh. Why am I not surprised? Shouldn't I be surprised?

It's almost as if the MI 6 agent gave us the straight scoop. Almost as if Putin really does have Trump in a compromised position. Ass-up, bent over a barrel.

Or maybe Trump is just a treasonous turd, attempting to use zero-sum, divide-and-conquer tactics to his own personal advantage.

Time will tell. And, at Trump's current jack-up rate, time may tell sooner than I expected.

The Russian flag pin he was wearing on his lapel was a nicely understated touch.

It is very obvious that Trump is incapable of weighing the relevance of criticism based on source or context: he reacts identically to friendly, unfriendly or obviously humorous critical messages.

Superfluous to say, this lack of judgement is troublesome in a Commander-in-Chief.
