President Trump

Whatever it is, I would think it best for him to just go ahead and reveal it rather than let it be used as leverage against him. He's the most impervious-to-scandal politician I've ever seen and I think he could weather almost anything they've got.

The Russians used to be skilled at setting men up with hookers, and considering Trump's self-image as a ladies' man, if a woman threw herself at him in Moscow he wouldn't think it's anything but his animal magnetism. If there are videos the evangelicals would likely have some second thoughts. And if there is proof that the Russians have some financial hold on him, maybe big loans that could be called or under the table payments for vague "services," that might be worse.

As we heard this breaking news from CNN, it reminded me of how Watergate began. Karen agreed.

Included in that report to Obama and Trumps was evidence that Trump staffers had been in contact with Russians during the campaign.

Added to the Watergate feel was one of the reporters - I forget whether it was Woodward or Bernstein - was involved in putting together the story. Though in the segment I heard no reference to Watergate was made.

Yes, and just like Watergate it didn't come out in time for the voters to know about it before the election.

It's fake news

WASHINGTON*—*The National Nuclear Security Agency (NNSA) is pushing back at a news report that the transition team for President-elect Donald Trump plans to remove the heads of the agency when he takes office.

On Monday, Gizmodo reported that the Trump team has asked NNSA director Frank Klotz and his deputy, Madelyn Creedon, to step down on Jan 20. Because those positions require senate confirmation, those spots would likely be open for several weeks, if not months*—*at a time when the agency would need to be advocating the new Congress for funding.

However, an NNSA official, speaking on background, denied such discussions have occurred.*

“The story is not accurate,” the official said. “There have been no discussions between the president-elect’s transition team and any of NNSA’s political appointees on extending their public service past Jan. 20.”

Maybe not. What you quote says "there have been no discussions..." But the officials have submitted their resignations and have not been asked to stay.

Here's the update from the original publication:
Correction, 1/9/17, 11:03 p.m., :
Another NNSA official, speaking on background to Gizmodo and Defense News, has disputed this report as “inaccurate” while confirming that “there have been no discussions between the president-elect’s transition team and any of NNSA’s political appointees on extending their public service past Jan. 20.” In other words, the Trump transition team has not asked the top two NNSA officials to stay on until they can be replaced.

After speaking to our source for clarification, we have updated the story and headline to reflect that, while Klotz and Creedon have submitted their resignations, intend to depart on January 20, and have not been asked by the Trump transition to stay past that date, the Trump team has not explicitly instructed them to leave or “clean out their desks,” as we reported. According to our source, both officials “have expressed [to the Trump team] that they would likely be willing to stay to facilitate a smooth transition, if asked,” as is the tradition for key officials, and have received no response.

Their goodbye party is scheduled for next Thursday.

If you say "I quit," and the boss doesn't say "Don't leave yet, we need you," you're leaving, aren't you?

At a Senate hearing yesterday where the four heads of national security appeared to brief the Senate on the Russian hacking, FBI Director James Comey was asked about possible ties between Trump and the Russians. Comey replied that he would not comment on pending investigations.

One of the Senators then said something like, "The irony of your telling the committee that is really astonishing." Comey immediately interjected, "A completed investigation, Senator..."

Blackmail Trump with what? We already know or suspect he has been involved in all sorts of idiocy, lunacy and scandals.

But this involves personal sexual fetishes that are easily mocked not broadly acceptable acts like sexual assault.

Unless there is proof that he is broke and in debt to the Russia mafia, it really will not matter except as a way to keep his spin machinery busy.

I am sure this "Russian influence over the future President" is just vicious rumour designed to distract everyone from Trump's new exciting initiatives to make the country great again, like a new flag for America for example.

Yes, and just like Watergate it didn't come out in time for the voters to know about it before the election.

If Trump staffers were communicating/coordinating with Russians during the campaign, I can just envision them called before a Senate subcommittee and grilled on it.

"What did the President know, and when did he know it?" could again become the question of the day.

My prediction that Trump will not be President on Jan. 20, 2018 still stands, and I'm still ready to bet even money on it.

Whatever may harm his ego. He's very clearly a disgusting person, but he does like the cheering sections.
