Are all Trump supporters racists?

That's because you think I'm the opposite side of your coin. Trump is going to hurt this country very badly, and no sane US citizen would hope for such a thing. My only real hope at this point is that we can limit the damage to two years.

The 2018 Senate slate heavily favors the Republicans plus they're going to be attempting NC style gerrymandering for the house to make up for the unpopularity of their ideas.

"Unfortunately, my deductible went from $1000 (one thousand) to $13,000 (thirteen thousand) and my policy cost increased about $60 (sixty dollars) per week.
Is there a reason you cite 2 (two) versions of every number?

Maybe there's a reason and I missed it, just as I missed how this turned into a health-care thread. It might be a good time to start one of those soon.

One only needs to go back a month to that ghastly ape in heels Facebook comments between those two idiots in VA to understand just how off-hand and casual this kind of racism is.

The consequences? A few weeks' paid vacation from her $80k/yr taxpayer funded job.

Last information received was that she is slated to resume her post tomorrow. (this may change, as they assumed not issuing a press release about it would mean nobody would know, but it's become its own news instead)

Anecdotes?

Please don't link that fakety-fake YouTube video.

No, nothing grand awaits. I have personal accounts from a brother in law attorney that was there at the same time Obama was teaching "Constitutional Law".

Obama included the Kenyan born thing in his "meet your professor" speech.
I wonder if someone has a recording of that? Video and smart phones were not available but mini cassette recorders were a big thing then. Could have earned big bucks during the controversy. Chris B.

Or maybe he never said such a thing and your BIL is a liar or really remembers only what he wants to hear.

Sorry, but your BILs decades old memory does not impress me even the slightest bit.

ETA: And why is Constitutional Law in scare quotes?

lol I just wanted to be clear so that everyone understood my deductible went up thousands of dollars and not merely three hundred.

Sorry for the sidetracked conversation it was off topic. Chris B.

If that had happened at any of my previous jobs most everyone in the company would be wondering why the HR department still ahd jobs for being so incompetent at negotiating plans for the company.

And you shouldn't be impressed as it is not an argument and is not dependent on truthfulness or the lack of it. Merely a personal account.

The non-profit could lose state funding if they reinstate her.

The governor's office says they were concerned when they first became aware of the post but that talk of Taylor's reinstatement is what prompted the release of their statement, threatening to pull state funding from the non-profit group if Taylor is reinstated.

...

Jessica Tice, director of communications for Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, says if the Clay-based non-profit group has violated non-discrimination policies, the state may cut their funding.

Show me a Trump supporters who respects Arabs, Muslims, blacks, Gays, Jews, Hispanics, immigrants, Mexicans, and I will believe.

Something needs to give somewhere my healthcare cost vs benefit is a joke (until I start having heart attacks etc). Chris B.

That part in parentheses is the killer though. There was (is?) so little price transparency in health care that just assessing cost vs. benefit is extremely difficult. Prices charged are arbitrary. If Trump and crew's "something better" is single-payer UHC, more care could be given for a lot less money. Still don't know how this ties in with race, except maybe "responsible" people don't want to pay for other people's health crises, and they might see some races as less responsible? In my area Native Americans have monstrous rates of Type 2 diabetes, which has expensive complications, and there is a lifestyle component there, though also a strong genetic one. I believe black people and Latinos are also more susceptible. Obesity and lack of exercise also play a part.

It's time for a nice relevant thread on what might replace Obamacare. I hope there's no undercurrent of anyone thinking some people don't deserve good care. There's a surcharge on smoking; we could add others. But basically I think we want people to be taken care off - even as we want them to make healthier choices. That was Michelle's big kick.

I believe the US is more than it has been portrayed to be in the press. Racism exists sure, but not as extreme as it has been played up to be. No, there aren't White cops targeting Black men.

Obvious recent counterexamples include the police forces of Ferguson MO, New York City, and Baltimore MD. All three have been found to target minorities either by outside observers, or had police outright state that they target black and brown people.

(Also, it's not just white police - it's police of all races)

The issue of race has become one of campaign tactics. The separation of race is of particular interest to one of the parties involved. It's wrong, and that's one reason why that candidate of that party lost the election.

Except, again, the candidate who pledged to discriminate on the basis of race (including having police across the nation target black people) actually won the election.

Perhaps I have a different view than some, but I feel we must treat everyone equally and not try to take political power away from anyone because of their skin color, whatever that color may be.

Your actions clearly state otherwise.

It's clear that there are nonzero count of trump supporters in all those demographics. Every voting segment I have reviewed has a red slice in it.

There's gay Trumpies who are expecting a windfall inheritance and want to eliminate the inheritance tax. ("But just for this one administration; I'm engaged.")

There's black Trumpies who want a Christian theocracy here and now, because the Second Coming is only months away, and we're running out of time. (*cough* Carson *cough*)

There's Jewish Trumpies who want a total stop to Muslim immigration, and ideally, sent all the Muslims back to Asia or something. (Just keep them away from the bakery, and why not? Mazeltov.)

&c.

The US is at a 20 year low for hate crime against black people. I'm not sure that counter examples are a good way to refute broad general claims.

The claim being refuted was "No, there aren't White cops targeting Black men."

The simply fact is that the opposite has been extensively documented. And the same is true of Asian cops, black cops, and cops of every other race. Yes, the individual cop doesn't often get charged with hate crimes, and often isn't charged with anything even in obvious cases (eg. the murders of Tamir Rice, John Crawford III)

Turns out that "drain the swamp" might actually not mean get rid of corruption when Trump says it, but rather get rid of liberals, anti-racists, lgbt rights-activists and so on.
....

And you are assuming "liberals, anti-racists, lgbt rights-activists and so on" can't be part of the corruption. naif

I've said in the past that people in general are racist, including myself. A hefty portion of Trump's appeal was to people who are openly, blatantly racist. But relatively few of us IMO are completely free of any racial stereotyping. In my experience knowing many individuals of a particular race - which I think is a somewhat arbitrary grouping to begin with - makes it harder to buy into generalities.

It's true there are white people frightened bu the changes in the genetic makeup of the American population. But any person - even a white one - is engaging in racism by seeing all Trump's white supporters as racially motivated haters. When I work at mostly Latino schools, I might roll my eyes over Trump's generalizations about Mexicans (I want these kids to be able to stay if they were brought here illegally; they know that). Other days I'll be with predominately white students, or mixed groups. I had to restrain myself from arguing with a Trump-supporting teenager who said Catholics weren't Christians (they were researching world religions for social studies class). I'd rather ask questions and encourage discussions.

I could never have voted for Trump but I did begin to get impatient with the stereotypes of Trump supporters flying from the liberal camp.
