My impression is that this is early days. My mental picture of the proposed administration and Congress is that they're at the 'divvying up the nation's wealth' stage. A consolidation into fewer hands.
The poor have nothing, the middle class are mostly drained now. The plan will to continue to include squeezing the remaining wealth out of labour, but a new front will have to be opened on small business. Not sure how, but off the top of my head, I suspect import tarrifs will be designed to favour large businesses.
In the long run, it will be down to a few super rich, but let's hope it doesn't get to that. People may catch on.
Trump has appointed Linda McMahon to head the Small Business Administration. Yes, the wife of the head of World Wrestling Entertainment. So perhaps everything will be 'fixed'?
A new Texas nonprofit led by Donald Trump’s grown sons is offering access to the freshly-minted president during inauguration weekend — all in exchange for million-dollar donations to unnamed “conservation” charities, according to interviews and documents reviewed by the Center for Public Integrity.
And the donors’ identities may never be known.
Prospective million-dollar donors to the “Opening Day 2017” event — slated for Jan. 21, the day after inauguration, at Washington, D.C.’s Walter E. Washington Convention Center — receive a “private reception and photo opportunity for 16 guests with President Donald J. Trump,” a “multi-day hunting and/or fishing excursion for 4 guests with Donald Trump, Jr. and/or Eric Trump, and team,” as well as tickets to other events and “autographed guitars by an Opening Day 2017 performer.”
Website TMZ.com first published a brochure hyping the happening. The brochure says that “all net proceeds from the Opening Day event will be donated to conservation charities,” but it does not name the charities or detail how net proceeds will be calculated.
Who’s behind the get-together?
Walter Kinzie, chief executive officer of Texas event management company Encore Live, confirmed to the Center for Public Integrity that a nonprofit group called the Opening Day Foundation hired his firm to manage Opening Day 2017.
A Center for Public Integrity review of Texas incorporation records found the Opening Day Foundation was created less than a week ago, on Dec. 14. Unlike political committees, such nonprofits aren’t required by law to reveal their donors, allowing sponsors to write seven-figure checks for access to the president while staying anonymous, if they choose.

For the low, low price of $1 million you get to attend a private reception and photo-OP with the president, a bunch of swag, and a hunting trip with Don Jr., and/or Eric.
This is draining the swamp.
This might deserve its own thread but I'll just leave it here.

Build The Swamp!
(CNN)"Drain the swamp" was a refrain of Donald Trump during the presidential campaign, but Newt Gingrich says the president-elect "doesn't want to use it anymore" now that he's knee-deep in alligators.
"I'm told he now just disclaims that. He now says it was cute, but he doesn't want to use it anymore," Gingrich, who informally advises Trump, said Wednesday on NPR's "Morning Edition."

The office of the mayor of Mobile, Ala., where Trump held a stop on his post-election “thank you” tour, issued a public apology Sunday after there was backlash over the removal of the tree.
“In preparing for this event, I worked closely with the advance team. In an effort to make sure every detail was covered and the expectations of the President-Elect’s team were exceeded, I became overzealous,” the mayor’s chief of staff, Colby Cooper, said in a statement.
"I now know there are citizens who are upset and offended that a tree from a City park was used as part of the decorations for the event. I accept full responsibility for having this done.”
One citizen told AL.com that she emailed her concerns to the mayor.
“Our city parks aren’t Christmas tree farms. An old-growth tree from a city park for backdrop? Insane," the woman wrote in the email.
The mayor’s chief of staff vowed Monday to pay to replace the tree and said the “tree used will be repurposed.”
Ala. officials apologize for cutting down tree for Trump rally.
Not just any tree, a beautiful old growth cedar from one of the city parks.
Repurposed into what, firewood? Maybe they can make a couple conference tables out of it for city hall.
Really really sad.
So Newt, Chris Christie, Rudy Giuliani - what's in it anymore for them? They've been assiduously sucking up but now they're errand boys at best. I wonder if that rankles.
I said this in a discussion about who would get what positions after the election; why would Trump give them anything after he got elected? Trump no longer needs anything from them. They gave him what he wanted, so he now has no reason to give them anything they want. It's the same way he treated his contractors and other hired firms. Once he's got his, he feels no obligation to provide what he promised or would be expected from a human.
Perhaps she's been planted in Mobile's city park.As an aside, whatever happened to Katrina Pierson?
