Who killed Meredith Kercher? part 23

This was the same police chief, Profazio, who found the killer of American Miss Olsen (_sp?) within two days.

Another conspiracy theory bites the dust.

What's sad is the only reason you know the Olsen woman is because of Amanda, not calling you out btw, it's the only reason I know her too.

That case is a perfect example of what would have happened if the police in this case had been even slightly more prudent and waited on evidence before conducting illegal aggressive interrogations against clueless students.

Rudy Guede would have been caught and prosecuted, and like the Olsen case, it would have vanished from the news cycle by December 2007, never to be heard from again.

I'm afraid to say and ashamed to admit that Vixen made me look. She's now having a good laugh sending me off on this wild goose chase.

But I now know what "Tek journalism" is.

It's "hobby journalism." From their website:

T.H.I.S. is Vixen's source. An April Fool's prank from 2009 gets reported by a hobbyist in 2011, maybe because Eileen had stumbled across TJMK. Then again we don't even know that, because Vixen - once again - provides no cite from Tek Journaism nor a link to the relevant article, which probably does not exist - which means I'm the fool for even trying to look.

So now Vixen has neither provided a cite for one - just one - forensic-DNA expert who agrees with Stefanoni's DNA work, she also has not provided a cite for what she made up out of thin air - and rumour - about the April Fool's prank being a rape prank.

Vixen just made it up. And she turns around and calls Knox a liar.

Amanda Knox i a liar. It's official. Your heroes Marasca-Bruno underlined it.

It's amazing to me that Vixen doesn't understand the authority she is citing as "proof" that "Amanda is a liar" is the same authority that said Amanda and Raffaele did not commit the murder.

And by amazing I mean completely par for the course.

This is like an exam, Numbers! I have already sent you NASA's fact sheet in how to calculate what happens to a baseball in flight. For your homework, please revise this and then YOU tell ME, 'What are all the variables and assumptions that are needed to calculate upward or downward motion of the rock' and can you show the system of equations that determine the motion of the rock in each direction in a physically meaningful model of real kinematic behavior?

Sheee-eeesh!

Apparently we've reached the limit of your scientific treatment of this issue.

I have already given my result for the relevant part of this problem in a post on ISF.

The question of interest was the minimum launch speed required for a rock thrown from the rampart 3 meters from the cottage to hit Filomena's window.

Using a standard free-fall kinematics model, and a "safety factor" of 0.5 meters added to the travel distance to assure the rock entered the window rather than falling short, I found that the minimum launch speed for the rock to be 5.5m/s = 19.7km/h = 12.3miles/h. Such a launch speed is well within the capabilities of average athletically active persons; baseballs, for example, are thrown at minimum launch speeds of 65miles/h to reach a distance of 60.6 feet. With respect to the mass of the rock, it has been noted by others (including, I believe, Sampson) on the forum that the mass of the rock, 4kg, was equal to the regulation mass of the shot put used in women's shot put. The world's record for the women's shot put is 22.6m, well beyond the 3m required in this case. Rudy Guede, convicted of the murder/rape of Meredith Kercher, was a semiprofessional basketball player in Perugia, and thus would most likely have no difficulty in achieving a rock throw with launch velocity of 5.5m/s.

Yeah, but the boulder slab rock thrown by Guede was multishaped, see, so, erm........ yeah, that must change something......erm......lift.........erm pounds per square inch/foot second..........erm...........distance in mass per pound cubic foot weight.....so......yeah.....ermmm....... this CLEARLY illustrates from scientific first principles just how Guede simply could not have completed that throw! And I regularly used to beat my great-uncle - a Nobel laureate in physics - in the little physics tests we used to set ourselves before dinner in the log cabin. Even when I was four years old. So don't doubt that I know the maths and physics here, AND YOU ARE IGNORANT IF YOU THINK I'M WRONG!

:p

That's you. What am I?

So launch speed of 12.3 miles/h, 5.5 m/s.

Let's give an acceleration distance of 25 inches (average length of a human arm). Just an approximation of course.

To go from 0 to 5.5 m/s in 25 inches takes an acceleration of (v^2)/(2d) = 5.5^2/(2*0.635) = 23.8 m/s^2 (this comes from standard kinematics equations and a little algebra, Vixen. You know, sorcery and witchcraft.)

So assuming a ~uniform force is applied over the full distance, it would take a force of 4kg*(23.8m/s^2) = 95.2 N

That is 21.4 pounds Vixen.

Are you saying a 20 year old semi-pro basketball player cannot apply 21.4 pounds of force to a rock, Vixen?

Wrong.

1. You said 'the horizontal velocity' was 12.3 mph.
2. The Ladies Shot Put weight is 8lbs 10 ozs. The boulder is 9lbs 4oz.
3. Please produce your proof:

Let minimum launch speed be 12.3 mph by male 5'11", distance, 3m away from target; this renders sufficient force to embed glass fragments from broken window into the inner shutter, no glass shards to land on the window sill beyond the boundary of the outer shutter, or ground below and that the rock should come to land quite a long distance away, under a chair.

A free hand diagram will aid your answer.

All workings to be shown.

Why are you mixing imperial measure with metric? I can only think of a single reason. Obfuscation.
