President Trump

He may tire of the gig but I'm not at all sure that his supporters will have tired of him not least because any failure to deliver on his part will, IMO, be blamed on Obama, the Democratic Party, foreigners or pretty much anything apart from Trump.

Fox, Breibart and so on will lap it up, the major networks will take a view that negative Trump stories don't sell and will quit covering them which will leave the likes of MSNBC and the WaPo to cover it to their smallish audience.

Perhaps the first couple of Trump "failures to deliver" may generate some coverage but as soon as it becomes same-old same-old, the public will lose interest which means the networks won't bother to report it.

I don't know. That seems too simplistic. Trump will have been given a Republican Senate and House and if jobs in Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania don't make a huge turnaround, he'll be in trouble. The news will delightfully report all the scandals. Trump will no longer be the outsider, he'll be the incompetent boob and a-hole. America's mistake. He'll be the "what the hell were we thinking?" mistake. Pence just announced that priority one out of the gate will be repealing Obamacare. This will be a mistake of major proportions. 20 million who had Healthcare won't have it anymore. Trump will have promised to have replaced it with something better. I don't think he can or will replace it with anything.

But after a shamefully late start, the press has been reporting the scandals for months: Lawsuits for fraud in two states, complaints of abuse by more than a dozen women, confession to sexual assault from his own mouth, countless reports from contractors he cheated, tax manipulation (if not outright evasion), using his fraudulent foundation to pay his personal bills, shady dealings with foreign powers, etc., etc., etc. There are already reports that his D.C. hotel is "encouraging" embassies to house their foreign guests there. His base never cared about any of it. If he makes occasional noise about kicking out Mexicans and locking out Muslims, his base will forgive everything else.

More Trump scams:

Donald Trump vowed to “drain the swamp” of corruption in Washington. But experts on governmental ethics are increasingly worried that Trump’s presidency, and his refusal to place his global business empire in a blind trust, risk producing a conflicts-of-interest cesspool that is far more dense and rancid than anything we’ve seen before.

First, Trump’s plan is not really an infrastructure plan. It’s a tax-cut plan for utility-industry and construction-sector investors, and a massive corporate welfare plan for contractors. The Trump plan doesn’t directly fund new roads, bridges, water systems or airports, as did Hillary Clinton’s 2016 infrastructure proposal. Instead, Trump’s plan provides tax breaks to private-sector investors who back profitable construction projects. These projects (such as electrical grid modernization or energy pipeline expansion) might already be planned or even underway.

yes, because we all look *exactly* the same as we did 25-30 years ago

No, but not all of us have put on what appears to 150 kg. He looks like someone over-inflated him by accident. I don't like Gunsnroses, but I'd pay to watch him on stage.

And you think those are gaffes worth being 'absolutely appalled' by?

Much as it pains me to disagree on the subject of the Royle Family, the criticisms are quite right, as was the story about the muted response to the Obamas' gaffes.

You might not be aware of the other completely uncultured country of Australia, where a 1992 incident still reverberates in the consciousness of Australians. Paul Keating touched the Queen! 24 years later, that is still a subject of discussion & derision. (I know, it happened last week, and nothing to do with Trump.)

Or, someone who certainly should have known better, the awful, monarchist-loving, former Oxford Blue Tony Abbott, who placed his filthy hands on King-Willie-to-be's nice suit. (and have you ever seen a more awkward picture than that dope Abbott?)

There's also plenty to suggest that he doesn't place much effort on preparations.

Like saying to Teresa May, "Don't forget to call in and say hi if you're over here!"?

It will absolutely take plenty of instruction, wasted effort imo, for Trump to ever come close to looking as dignified a president as Obama has been.

I'd take issue with that as well. Lots of style, little substance. Looks great with a golf stick in hand. His Nobel Prize is a case in point. He got it for what he said he was going to do, and then didn't follow through on. A guy who even NYT describes as a President whose lasting legacy will be the number of drone strikes he authorised?

On those numbers, Dubbya should get 10 Nobel Prizes.

The only way he doesn't come off looking like a buffoon on a royal visit is if he says little or nothing. But that's not how Trump operates because he doesn't believe he's being an idiot when he's being an idiot. I guess we'll see.

Thankfully, after those despicable Chinks went through Buck House, the bar for behaviour around the stupid old hag is set pretty low. They were so bad even her very own royal mistress and chief setter of protocol "inadvertently" let out a recorded comment that the Chinese were very rude!

I could be wrong, but I think there is a very different dynamic during the presidency as opposed to the campaign. The scandals were so many that none of them were covered in depth. Time won't be the factor that it was during the campaign.

Also, he'll probably always will have his base but that is not enough to win an election.

The right wing has become very skillful at portraying basic factual reporting -- like the words out of Trump's mouth -- as "liberal" propaganda. People will only believe what they want to believe. And a lot of people get their information -- and misinformation -- from fake news sites anyway.

It was sure enough to win the first time.

Actually, no, after what he does now -including many things that were noted before he won but his voters chose not to believe he is very likely to lose many of his voters who will realize he has and will stiff them and really does not give a flying **** about them in reality. His base is only the hard core right wing racists and hangers on who will not realize even they are just tools for him and will continue giving him their support.

The first time he got lucky, next time when he has done nothing for most of his supporters...................they won't be there for him. And he will likely run again assuring a Democratic victory.

Cashing in BIGLY in Argentina!

For a number of years, Trump and his Argentine partners have been trying to build a major office building in Buenos Aires. The project has been held up by a series of complications tied to financing, importation of building materials and various permitting requirements.

According to*a report out of Argentina, when Argentine President Mauricio Macri called President-Elect Trump to congratulate him on his election, Trump asked Macri to deal with the permitting issues that are currently holding up the project.

Coupled with Indian business partners that showed up over the weekend.

Nope, nothing to see here. Just a President for hire.

There's no denying that. And he lost the popular vote. A couple of points in normally heavily Democratic Michigan and Pennsylvania and Trump loses.

I admit, I am guessing. Who's to conclude Trump may not prove to be more popular in 4 years? He WILL be facing a different candidate. The economic conditions WILL be different.
My guess is Trump won't be able to stay out of the news and Trump news will wear thin. Of course, I could be very wrong. If the Democrats find a good candidate to face him, he'll be very beatable.

He isn't in charge yet.

The markets discount the expected future, and right now they're all bullish on the US economy with Donald as President. The markets could be wrong, of course, but their predictions are also self-fulfilling to a considerable degree.
