What's next? A Trump presidency prediction thread.

If Trump nominates a clearly unqualified person are there any Senate Republicans that would vote against confirmation?

Just wondering if there are any adults left in the room.

They'd have to be at a Harriet Miers level of clearly unqualified for the position if 2003-2007 taught us anything.

Healthcare is just another hand-out. People who can't afford health insurance should just die. It's the order of things. If they had worked hard they'd be able to afford it.
I actually heard one of the end-times "preachers" on the radio say: "In the old days we didn't have health insurance. We had the Master Healer. We trusted in God."

So in the new theocracy, the health care plan will be to tell people to pray. Non-believers are going to hell anyways and don't deserve to be healed of anything in the meantime.

Easy peasy.

I just had a weird thought. Imagine Trump's first TV address from the Oval Office. Will he even be able to speak without a live audience.

(Additional) - I have a vision of him saying "... I am therefore declaring martial law..." or the like.

Head line-2018, President Trump, and the first piece of a** board air force one to travel to Beijing
China to sign the surrender in the trade war as America surrenders to China giving them control of Korea, and Japan after the Nuclear war between North and South Korea.

Yes it can get worse than this.

Like I said to my momma a bit ago when she came over to smoke pot and commiserate, we need to stop whirligigging imaginary scenarios. Don't borrow trouble. Find your actionables. We obviously can't predict the future or this thread wouldn't exist.

Your statistics are utterly, provably false, as I have explained several times on this forum. If it were true that over 50% of illegal immigrants were visa overstays, then it wouldn't be the case that over 50% of illegal immigrants are from Mexico, and 75% from Latin America.

I'm guessing that in the world that exists in your head people from Latin America can't obtain US Visas?

In any case, I was referring specifically to the illegal immigrants who cross our Southern border.

Your post did not specify this.

I do not think that visa overstays is a big problem, but, in any case, that's the easiest problem to fix. Only hand out visas to people who provide enough information for you to track them (e.g. names and addresses of people they're staying with). If there is no record of them leaving when they're supposed to, you track them down.

What do you think they do at the moment?

Avoiding health insurance became a religious matter when Obama the Antchrist created the evil Obamacare. I know people who opted out of ACA insurance by joining a health sharing ministry. They pray they don't get sick. If they do get sick they pray the ministry will cover the cost of treatment instead of deciding they are an unworthy sinner.

I predict that the system of checks and balances will work. Congress and the courts will step in to right the ship of state if the executive tries to sink it.

I predict that, ultimately, the powers of the President will be constrained for decades to come.

Cheney set a precedent for Vice Presidential independence of both legislative and executive branches.

I hope you're right. The problem with checks and balances is that they need people who disagree with each other in order to function.
I'm pretty sure people will disagree with each other; groups of people tend to split into factions.

And here's something about health care. Some rising costs may be sheer, cynical profiteering, but the industry also creates a great many jobs, and hopefully not just for claims adjustors. Discouraging people from using health care may lead to lower revenue for the medical-industrial complex, which wants people to have insurance so the hospital get paid for procedures. This is a little like a federal stimulus project, and suddenly yanking insurance from 22 million people is not a good way to will have stabilize revenues, keep people employed etc.

These actions are interconnected and always, there are unintended consequences. Prioritizing the border could mean less effort on middle-American roadway funding, for example. Really sophisticated border patrol might reduce the need for agents. I think this whole period has the potential to be a learning opportunity, as the adversarial hot air dissipates and people maybe begin to get curious about what's next.

Is that real?
