Except nominate a candidate that a clear majority of people like and are eager to support.
 
Regardless what the eventual outcome is, one does wonder if Jeremy Comey will be tendering his resignation this week. I have little doubt that the little letter of his swayed an awful lot of voters to either switch candidate or to not bother voting at all.

I blame the terrible candidate who ran a terrible campaign. Clinton lost to the pussy grabber. Nuff said.
 
I'm still not ruling out a Clinton win, even now. but what is apparent is that Trump was grossly, GROSSLY, GROSSLY underestimated for the entire duration of this election cycle...
Speaking of which... the whole thing I pointed out over a year ago... now you guys know why I don't bother with prediction threads.

I don't think she ran a terrible campaign. The only gaffe I remember was "deplorables", which was a pretty big gaffe and underestimated in its severity, but I don't think she ran a terrible campaign.

I do think she was a terrible candidate.

The alternative was Bernie Sanders against a candidate that was able to run an openly anti-Semitic campaign without being called it for the most part. It has been a disgusting cycle.

Here's what kind of irritates me. Why was Bernie Sanders "the alternative"? I can think of dozens of Democrats I would much rather vote for. What Hillary had was her insider status, and a feeling among the party elite that it was "her turn". She was the organization candidate. That's the candidate that has no significant popular following, but gets the nod because they've managed to rack up the support of some sort of political machine. Bernie was the alternative because he was the only one sufficiently independent to not fear standing up to the organization candidate.

In my adult lifetime, she joins two other organization candidates, Walter Mondale and Bob Dole. All ok people in one way or another. All mainstream party line candidates. Two lost by landslides. One lost an election that was hers to win.

The also ran was my choice of Martin O'Malley but I'm being generous giving him that designation. Some people just wanted to see the world burn this cycle and I don't think they've grasped how literal that could get.

When's the last time a Democrat lost Pennslyvania or Wisconsin? You have to go back to the 1980's. I don't think a Dem candidate loses states like that running a "good" campaign.

Democrats wanted Clinton to run, they got their wish, and now we have President Pussy Grabber. Maybe Bernie wouldn't have done any better, but we know for sure how Clinton did. It was a mistake nominating her.

There's one thing that most of this latest discussion ignores that has historically play a part in these elections. CLinton is running for a third consecutive democratic term. That was also working against her. In hindsight, I would point out that this also influenced 2008 elections for Obama when McCain ran for the Republican's third term...

I know this is a single issue in a complicated mess of factors to the election, but it's an important one to remember. Had it not been that set up, she very well could have edged this out better too.

Obama won because we were in the middle of a Republican-caused economic collapse during the campaign season and he promised to do something to fix it.

The Republican chance of winning that election was zero.

It just didn't make any sense that you guys were so damn certain about it. That's what I found astounding the entire time. There were moments when I wavered in my belief that Trump would win, but the Hillary supporters/Trump haters on this board never did. I thought that was really weird, considering that it was clear that Trump was a force to be reckoned with. A little humility/reservation would maybe have maybe softened the blow...
