At one time I thought the job of Secretary of State was all about managing our relationships with other nations. Apparently none of that really matters. The job is actually about keeping track of every email message ever sent or received by you or your staff.

Right?

The most depressing part of this whole deal is that there is almost no investigative reporting in the television or print media into what these emails tell us about how Hillary performed as Secretary of State. It's all nearly just sensationalist speculation about how bad it could be for Hillary. Alter Egos (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CMH3KGY/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1) assesses some of the emails to better understand her performance, but the emails feel a bit more an afterthought, as if the book were largely written before the emails were available. And, sadly, it seems that very few people bother reading books anyway.

This entire election is just utterly depressing. I just can't express how disappointed I am with our media and electorate.

"At the time they were sent by the FBI"? Hee hee! 'K.

Fantastic.
That's why I limited it to 3 statements that built on each other. I knew you wouldn't process much, so an information dump would be wasted on you.

Let's parse out that 3rd one that has you confused:

Do you understand that over 2000 of the emails sent were deemed not classified at the time they were sent by the FBI, but were retroactively classified? Yes or no?

Do you understand that over 2000 of your claimed 2200 were reviewed by the FBI and the FBI determined that the information those emails had was not classified at the time they were sent, but those 2000 emails were later retroactively classified? Yes or no?

I know that is a complicated sentence. I apologize, but I can't make it more simple without risking misrepresenting the situation like you did. If this statement is beyond you, perhaps you should refrain from this discussion, as there will be many big words like "retroactive" used.

Bingo! Can you imagine the amount of energy Hillary wasted setting up her own private cowboy server so she could keep her emails from the public.

This could have all been avoided but for Hillary's raging paranoia and monstrous ego.

As her friend said, who ever told Hillary that setting up her own server should be drawn and quartered!

Hillary has done a poor job, purposely?, of explaining Secretary job. All the dirt, and presidential discussions (weapons of mass destruction!) is done behind closed doors and the paperwork shredded.

I imagine she wasted little or no energy setting up her server.

Her entire installation was probably two words - "Over there"

It's a requirement of the Federal Records Act. Following it is very easy for everyone subject to the Act: they just need to do their communications with government run information systems.

I wasn't talking about Hillary, I was talking about the entire State Department bending to accommodate her selfish paranoia.

Hillary can barely stir herself to do anything. Example, Hillary emailed an aide to email an aide to tell her to bring her an iced tea.

Of the Long Island variety no doubt...

The eyes of most Americans seem to glaze over at any idea too complex to fit on a bumper sticker. The press understands this and would rather write about the horse race or an invented scandal than discuss the complexities of policy or foreign affairs. As a result the US is full of people that think Hillary started the civil war in Libya, siding with ISIS over that nice Mr. Gaddafi.

But now they know the Hillary's friends were telling her to take credit for the "victory" as it slid into anarchic abyss due to Iraq level post war bungling by Obama and Hillary.

But you knew that because it is more complex than a bumper sticker,

Not true, though, at least not as a requirement. The FRA has been amended a couple of times, but it does not require the use of departmental systems, though doing so would automatically ensure compliance. It in fact mentions non-departmental systems by stating that those records must be maintained, too, indicating clearly that such systems are allowed.

Uh...

Uh, yea you were talking about Hillary. English much?

Oh dear, I was talking about how much energy was wasted, not necessarily her own energy.

I'm sure the paranoid section of brain misfired off a couple of thoughts and told her that setting up her own cowboy server would be a "good" idea, and she left it to the little people to get it done and deal with the aftermath. She is the person who threw out a lit cigarette and burned the State Department down.

I understand that perhaps this is more complicated than a bumper sticker, so my apologies.

Yes, I said virtually the same thing. Not sure why you would think it's "not true"...

A friend works for a federal agency that uses Gmail instead of having its own email system.

What gets lost in this discussion is that the FRA exists to preserve official records for historians. Justice Watch figured out that the FOIA could be used for a fishing expedition. They requested every email ever sent or received by Hillary while she was Secretary of State hoping to find something that could be used against her.

Did they turn on a policy that auto-deleted emails 30 days after they were sent or received after receiving word that various government agencies wanted access to those communications?

Not even the NYTimes agrees with that characterization of the law:

Under federal law, however, letters and emails written and received by federal officials, such as the secretary of state, are considered government records and are supposed to be retained so that congressional committees, historians and members of the news media can find them. There are exceptions to the law for certain classified and sensitive materials.

Actually that was Vice and Jason Leopold, and they did it in November of 2014.

Bumper sticker facts, huh?

FRA does not require govt systems, and simply using a govt system does not automatically ensure compliance.

We learned in great detail in this thread that the govt systems are antiquated and don't don things like automatically archive emails that one would assume they would do.

Almost none ? You're lack of imagination is not an argument...

And guess what ... all her private emails are still private ! Winning !
