Trump runs for POTUS/ Trumped Up! Part VII

Seems as if you're trying to deny that my position is sensible, but you didn't actually say a damned thing about the argument I presented. Rather, you seem to coyly suggest that I'm being disingenuous.

Very nice.

Actually I'm suggesting that your "skeptical sensibilities" are rather chronically misapplied, but this thread is not about the nature of skepticism.

You're welcome to consider the display innocent of racism, but racism by Trump supporters is hardly an extraordinary claim, and it's what I see.

The second paragraph is exactly the same sort of stereotyping that we see in racism. "People like that are likely to do such-and-such, so I need less evidence to conclude that this person did such-and-such."

By the way, I have never said I consider the display innocent of racism. I have said, rather, that I don't know if it's overtly racist or not. This is an important distinction: I don't deny it's racist, but I don't assert that it's racist either, without more compelling evidence.

The only way you could have more compelling evidence is if there was a sign saying "phiwum - this is racist, man!"

Was Phiwum being too reasonable?

I think that we're probably going too far off-topic to continue this conversation here. Obviously, I don't agree with what you say, but whether this act is racist or not is only tangentially related to Trump, I think. We all agree that some of Trump's supporters are racist, and that racists are much more likely to be Trump supporters than Clinton supporters, so perhaps we needn't spend so much time discussing whether this act was overtly racist or not.

Sorry for the derail. We could discuss this in an appropriate thread.

Obviously Putin has the goods on Comey and is blackmailing him to get Trump into the Whitehouse.

By the same standard of evidence used by the Hillary Haters around here, i.e. pulled directly from the nether regions.

And I said I saw it as racist. What evidence do I need for that? Maybe the guy's racist; maybe he's just an idiot.

I made a snarky comment on Facebook asking if Comey was working for the Russians or still rigging the election for Hillary.

People took the first part way too seriously.

Fabrizio: You're losing.
Donald: The Drudge and Breitbart online polls have me in a landslide!
Fabrizio: Those aren't real polls.
Donald: That's not what I want to hear. You're not getting paid!

But the Republican presidential nominee appears to have taken issue with some of the services provided by the veteran GOP strategist, who has advised candidates from*1996 GOP nominee Bob Dole to Florida Gov. Rick Scott. The Trump campaign's latest Federal Election Commission report shows that it is disputing nearly $767,000 that Fabrizio's firm says it is still owed for polling.

Newsweek article: Donald Trump’s companies have systematically destroyed or hidden thousands of emails, digital records and paper documents demanded in official proceedings, often in defiance of court orders.
This review of Trump’s many decades of abusing the judicial system, ignoring judges, disregarding rules, destroying documents and lying about it is not simply a sordid history lesson. Rather, it helps explain his behavior since he declared his candidacy. He promised to turn over his tax returns and his health records—just as he promised to comply with document discovery requirements in so many lawsuits—then reneged. As a result, he has left a sparse evidentiary trail that can be used to assess his wealth, his qualifications for the presidency or even his fitness. Should voters choose him to be the next U.S. president, he will enter the Oval Office as a mystery, a man who has repeatedly flouted the rules. He has solemnly told the country to trust him while refusing to produce any records to prove whether he speaks the truth or has utter contempt for it.

All he has to do is win Pennsylvania or Michigan and Wisconsin! (lol)

Being an overt racist and misogynist with no GoTV is not a solid strategy. Somebody should alert political scientists to study this phenomenon.

The Trump sign, allegedly, belongs to the neighbour rather than the person who was hanging the effigies.

I don't believe the sign is on another person's property. Note the telephone circuit box sticking out of the lawn. Those are usually placed on the property line between properties.

But I don't see that the figures are obviously black, as some say. The clothing doesn't look particularly urban to me, but that might say more about my fashion sense than anything. The faces are obscured by hoods and the hands are fashioned from black gloves (which is what I would do, too, since that's the color of glove I own). The pants are drooping on one, but that is plausibly due to gravity.

So fervent denial and downplaying.

Some political commentators are saying that Friday's FBI statement will have more impact on the down ticket races then the presidential race. IE, "I can't vote for Trump, but will vote for a GOP senator to keep an eye on Hillary".
