I need to see those Trump camaign emails to get to the bottom of the great election robbery of 2016. Has he released them yet? And I mean everything, personal or not. Transparency and whatnot.

Did you mean to quote someone else? Because that do not make no sense.

I'm kind of surprised there's no meme about Trump's hidden tax returns.

Something like: "No Return = No Vote". Or "What's He Hiding?"

Diehard Trump supporters have certainly rationalized away his refusal, or bought the "But I'm being audited!" non-explanation. For fence-sitters, it would seem to be a bigger deal than it's turned out to be.

What about "Donald ducks" (publishing his tax returns), we could send actual people in DD costumes to rallies, that would be so awesome and would hit big on social media, isn't that a great idea? I envision an army of Ducks. Megameme!

Oh, wait...

We don't need to see them, we know he hasn't paid Federal taxes in years if not decades, he even admitted it in the debates as "Being Smart" and "Good Business."

Did you by any chance watch "The West Wing"?

Similar concept involving a chicken suit!

I think he's been painted in as the anti-plutocracy candidate. Go figure.

Yeah, I think a few hard line lefties think he is still a Communist at heart, and has an ultimate goal of bringing back the Soviet System and making it work this time, dammit!

CNN is announcing that Joe Biden is on Clinton's list for a cabinet position. Possibly Secretary of State. I thought Potus and VPotus were the final job for a politician and that they couldn't hold positions after this, including non-elected cabinet position.

Mind you, I'm getting my information from a Tom Clancey novel!
:boxedin:

Has this ever happened before? A P or VP taking a cabinet position in another administration? I have no memory of it happening.

Definitely not a President and I'm pretty sure not a VP. There is no reason it couldn't happen though. She could make Obama the Secretary of State or the Attorney General or whatever. Though I'm sure he wouldn't take it.

And she should just keep John Kerry assuming he is willing to stay.

I don't think they're legally prevented, but most people who climb out of a sewer want a shower and cuppa, not a towel-off and dive back in.

The closest I remember in recent history is former VP Walter Mondale serving as ambassador to Japan.

I don't know why they wouldn't be able to hold any positions after being president or VP. There's nothing in the constitution about it. At most I would guess a former 2-term president would just be removed from the line of succession if they were put in a cabinet position.

Again, I'm getting my information from a Tom Clancey novel, so I readily admit the non-scientifiicacy of it. It was something about accepting a temporary position of VP, to fill the spot, and then never being able to be called for public service again. Something desirable to the character (Ryan).

I fully accept being wrong on this. Just something in the back of my memory that I thought was worth asking.

I probably still have the book it was from, Debt Of Honor, so if I find it I will try to quote the relevant part. Not in anyway to bolster my argument, just as reference.

And thank you Firestone. I was unaware of that for Mondale.

Jack Ryan agreed to move from National Security Advisor to VP (because the VP resigned because of a rape scandal) on the condition that be his last public office. There was no rule or anything, he just didn't want to serve anymore.

And then of course,
he becomes the President right after being sworn in as VP because a terrorist attack kills the President along with everyone else in the government

John Quincy Adams served 17 years as a congressman after being president.
Taft was appointed to the Supreme Court.

Bill Clinton will be ineligible because he's related to Hillary. (The Bobby Kennedy law.)

No ex-president has served as a cabinet officer but nothing is stopping them. Cabinet officers are in the line of succession but they don't have to be eligible to president, they would be skipped in the line. Kissinger was not eligible not was Madeleine Albright as they were not born US citizens.
