Trump runs for POTUS/ Trumped Up! Part VI

I'm really sorry to see McCain say that. He didn't used to be such an unreasonable person.

I liked him prior to his 2008 run.

"Well, nothing in the constitution says that there needs to be nine justices..."

The GOP can get much, much worse.

New CBS poll of likely voters nationally:

Clinton 47
Donald 38
Johnson 8
Stein 3

In head-to-head, Clinton leads by 51-40. We could see something that hasn't happened in 32 years with these new margins.

I'm focused on the state polls especially the battleground states.

Ohio and Florida are too close for me to breathe properly. If Hillary could add just a few points to her lead in Pennsylvania then I can exhale. Trump has to win Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Hillary is winning in 3 out of 4 with her biggest lead of the 4 in Pennsylvania which most polls has consistently had her up by 6 to 10 points. What I hate about Pennsylvania is that they don't have early voting like Ohio and Florida where Clinton's ground game advantage can make the biggest difference.

It drives me crazy that this buffoon is this close. But I'd be this nervous in any Presidential election.

The Republicans have obstructed Obama's current nomination, and have already vowed to obstruct any nomination Hillary will do - on top of all the other obstruction they've done in the last eight years.

Imagine a Republcan congressman from a conservative district.

He or she was elected on a platform of overturning Obamacare, confirming conservative judges, that sort of thing.

Further imagine that virtually every letter they receive from their constituents asks them to block Obama's Supreme Court nomination.

In a representative democracy, is it not their duty to act in accordance to the wishes of their constituents?

Tony Stark will write off 40% or so of the population as evil idiots, and he's entitled to that opinion. Perhaps he feels that they don't deserve to be represented.

I personally feel that the luck of the draw handed Obama a Supreme Court choice, and he should have been granted that right. But hard to blame a republican congress for doing what their constituents want.

Trump proposing meeting Putin before he takes office:

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/10/trump-russia-putin-229904

At a time when he should be distancing himself from Vlad the Impaler...his love for Putin is a major sticking point with Many Republicans.....Trump embraces Putin again.
God,the man is an idiot. This cannot help in any way, and will only serve to hurt him.

I've heard a speculation about that from Trump's biographers. They think that Trump is making nice with Putin in the hope that Putin will get Assange to release some really damaging stuff about Hillary.

First: It would be a senator, who represents a state, not some gerrymandered district.

Second, not confirming would be one thing, refusing to hold confirmation hearings a different thing. You can't do the latter without advertising your obstructionism.

Third: Even with Scalia, the Texas abortion restrictions would have been blocked; the vote was 5-3. Thanks to a conservative Roman Catholic who ruled conservatively - that is, narrowly.

IMO too much gamesmanship regarding Supreme Court nominees can be damaging to politicians. I doubt if Hillary would want a pitched battle; I imagine she'd go for moderation. Republican senators refusing to hold confirmation hearings for four years would probably face backlash.

I think that Putin is in the tank for Donald about as much as he can be. IMHO,I don't think there is anything that Assange has that change the course of the election. I think the vast majority has pretty much decided whether Hillary's mistakes on Bengazi is a decisive issue or not.
Now maybe getting Putin to intervene with his Russian big money buddies to loan Donnie the money, post election, to finance the TNN...Trump News Network....that I would buy.

I have trouble believing that Assange would still be holding back any really good dirt on Hillary. But Trump may well believe it. Who knows what Assange (or associates) may have hinted at?

Who thought it was a good idea to send Melania out to deliver this message, "My husband is highly suggestible and can easily be induced to make terrible decisions," about how Billy Bush got him into this latest scandal.

The TV ad writes itself.

ANNOUNCER:"We could tell you why Trump is unfit to be president, but we'll let his wife tell you."

MELANIA:"My husband is highly suggestible and can easily be induced to make terrible decisions."

ANNOUNCER:"You can't say you haven't been warned, America."

Beyond the poling numbers, there's an interesting discussion by Nate in which he says something I just don't get, namely, that the number of undecided voters is much higher than at the same point in 2012. Huh?

One often hears the complaint that voting Dem or Rep is a matter of Tweedledee-ee of Tweedledum-dum. In most elections I don't think that's the case but acknowledge I could be wrong.

Not in 2016. The two candidates could not be more different. There can be no debate that the choice is clear; it's not a muddy mess.

So why is the number of undecideds so high? Are all these supposed undecideds just lying for some reason? Afraid to admit they're for Trump. Or for Clinton?

As far as I can tell, there's no great economic reason to confuse the election. There's no looming international crises about to explode. Terrorism is at its usual disgusting level. The weather's normal.

Why are there so many undecided voters now?

I don't think it has anything to do with the candidates and more to do with their supporters. There is no reasonable discussion anymore. Just two sides throwing death threats at each other. I mean if you didn't really care that much and you have a racist homophobe Trump supporter posting pictures of his guns, and me talking about how the Trump supporters need to be torn apart by red hot pincers in the town square, would you really want to enter that fray?

No sane person would....wait a minute...

One of Hilary's on line ads focuses on Alex Jones, having footage of some of the more outrageous thing Alex Jones has said, intersperesed with Donald praising Jones and talking about what a great job Jones is doing presenting "the truth". Very clever, IMHO.

Also, perfectly fair. If The GOP nominee wants to embrace a nut like that, then let them sink together.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident"
"Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall""The only thing we have to fear is fear itself"

"Grab her by the pussy"?

Complete left field point, but I always thought that speech was a bit overrated

McCain is already backtracking on his "We Won't Even Consider a Clinton Nominee" statement. It' is now"We will consider noninees on their merit".
Not that it matters;I think that was GOP strategy all along, where McCain blundered was in stating it publically.

He said what he meant and he meant what he said. Which is actually somewhat remarkable.

I liked him prior to his 2008 run.

He was willing to support Trump after essentially claiming American POW's were losers, and he didn't like them. What else does any reasonable adult need to know about McCain?
