Glenn Beck: I'm with her... Sort of.

I think he's a Mormon and they are apparently the only even slightly decent right wing Christian group in America.

You know, your ridiculous caricatures of your political opponents don't really help make Clinton more palatable to the undecideds.

At the very least, can we drop the *********** "Fuhrer" nonsense? It is embarrassing to those of us who might want to make a reasoned argument in favor of Hillary over Trump.

Thanks much for your kind consideration.

You're the first person to have used the word "Fuhrer" in this thread, phiwum. And your reply to Tony's post is completely out of proportion. I suggest you try to get a hold of yourself.

Sorry, I was thinking of his typical use of the term in other threads. Not sure why it's out of bounds here, but I apologize if I misled anyone about which thread he uses the term in.

No, I don't think so. Tony repeatedly disparages Trump supporters as terrible persons. I think that's neither accurate nor useful. I think that some of them are truly terrible, a few are backing him for misguided notions of self-interest and the great bulk are being hornswaggled.

I don't think it's good to demonize one's political opponents. Republicans aren't evil in any clear sense, and calling them such makes it difficult to work together when necessary.

(Certainly, of course, many Republicans demonize the Democrats and this behavior is a large part of the reason nothing much got done the last several years. I am not excusing that behavior on the right or even claiming that it is as widespread and dangerous on the left. I'm only saying that both sides ought to avoid it, and since this year, I'm closer to Tony's side, I thought I'd start there.)

I guess Glenn Beck is getting added to Sean Hannity's list of traitors now. Just yesterday afternoon, he and Louie Gohmert were saying that Conservatives had to support Trump no matter what he did, because Hillary getting elected would mean "the end of the United States as we know it".
Of course, Gohmert was also comparing Trump to Winston Churchill, so anything said needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

We need not guess what Trump-qua-Churchill would be like. Here it is:

Nah, they're scumbags.

**** them.

See, this is not a healthy attitude.

There are plenty of decent Republicans out there, even plenty of decent people who will make the terrible decision to vote for Trump -- not because they are scumbags, or uncaring, but because of ignorance or an emotional cloud that prevents them from recognizing the Trump is the worst candidate in history. The decision they have made is truly awful, but that doesn't make them scumbags.

This piece of **** literally started his campaign by calling Mexicans rapists.

**** Donald Trump. And **** every single person that votes for him.

Live to fight another day Tony Stark - just sayin' - I noticed you were briefly suspended.

To my mind, this is really no different from the guy who comes up with half a dozen reasons why it was okay for him to rob the convenience story or rape the woman. He had a tough life, he was desperate, she was asking for it... whatever. The fact is that a bad person is not somebody who has some magical quality of "badness" that separates them from a "good" person; a bad person is a person who does bad things, regardless of the reason.

If you can seriously vote for Donald Trump at this moment, then you are a bad person. I don't really care what reasons you want to use to justify it.

dunno, has this been posted already...

He told a story of Trump summoning him to a guest room at Mar-a-Lago; Trump then telephoned him from an adjacent room.“We had this weird, almost Howard Hughes-like conversation,” Beck said. He left convinced that Trump was nuts. “This guy is dangerously unhinged,” he said. “And, for all the things people have said about me over the years, I should be able to spot Dangerously Unhinged.”

Beck went on, “What’s most tragic about this is us. We have, as a culture, embraced the bad guys. I love Tony Soprano. But, when a Tony Soprano shows up in your life, you don’t love him so much.

Ranting like this simply emulates the bad behaviour you despise in them. It is the "low" road.

Breathe and rise above it. Clinton WILL win; the only variable will be by how much Trump loses.

No, we need to stop coddling these pieces of **** and call them what they are.

Who does that help? Not them - they are too busy shouting to listen to anything but the sound of their own voices. Not us - we already know what they are and don't need to shout it out loud. So, you? Does it help you to swear at things in public?

Coddling has nothing to do with it. We may agree on this, but saying so via megaphone is pointless.

Have to recognize the enemy for what they are.

No, they are not "the enemy". That's Civil War thinking. They are your fellow US citizens, just totally misguided. After all this incredible election nonsense is finally over, you are going to have to shake their hands and try to work with them again. Like the die-hard Southern separatists who just can't let Dixie go, it's only a tiny little incoherent rump who are making all that noise about "do it for Gawd!" and "crooked Hillary!" and "rigged!" The rest, like you, want to just get on with their lives and make the best of your country.

Well said.

Nah, **** those scumbags. The proper course of action is to just crush them and not care what they think.

And no, it is not just a fringe group saying that crap. Their freaking nominee is!

I'm kind of with Tony on this one. At this point, trying to pass off the oft exclaimed opinions of a major political party's presidential candidate as "fringe" may itself be misguided. ETA: They're certainly nutty, but they enjoy an uncomfortable level of implicit support.

Then you are exhibiting the same lack of control and compassion that you deride them for. I would have expected better of you, frankly.

Actually, it is just a fringe of idiots and bleaters with megaphones making all that noise, well out of proportion to their actual numbers. They get reported because they are reportable - visual click-bait for Murdoch's drivel-machine.
