Trump runs for POTUS/ Trumped Up! Part VI

The problem now isn't that he is alienating any more. The problem is that this is not the way to reclaim those driven away. He's lost, he needs to win votes, not continue as is

At this point I don't think the outcome of the election is uppermost in his mind. He wants REVENGE for being exposed as a lout. He has always struck back at offenses to his ego and now is no different. I can't imagine how his political staff even pretends to be working on a presidential campaign.

Also, as I think was mentioned upthread, can you imagine the horror stories that will come out starting on Nov.9th?

The entire GOP is dominated by know-nothing Tea Partyists. Anti-choice, Pro-creationist, anti universal medical care racist ignorance. They can't say no to the crazies because they are the crazies.

One piece of evidence supporting that is the "Better Way" plan that Ryan is pushing. It is the absolute dream of the conservative elite with a few bones thrown to the rubes. Eliminate ACA. Privatize Social Security. Block grant entitlement grants to states. Big military. Reduce Obliterate environmental and financial regulations.

It is truly crazy. Yet that is the platform of the most powerful Republican politician.

Funny, why does it have so much traction then?

Yes, you're correct, he didn't confess, he was caught lying. ;)

The only people it has any traction with are those that still believe that it is acceptable to judge a woman by her Husband's actions.

Even Republicans who support Donald are not touching his "The Elections are Rigged" crap with a ten foot poll.but Jefferson Beauregard Sessions is on board with it.

I expect before too much longer Jeff Sessions will go the full Neo Confederate route on us.

Yeah, I watched part of his introduction and I just don't get why he's all in for Trump. He just about owns his Senate seat and won't lose it until he decides to retire. Even he is smart enough to know Trump is going to lose so there's no upside political appointment position waiting for him. What's the strategy here? Or is there one at all?

He's neoconfederate scumbag who is mad the South lost the War of Northern Aggression. He sees it as a plus if the perceived legitimacy of the federal government is reduced.

But of course no mention of the real predator who's wife you're going to vote for. I don't think you're disgusted by this at all, if you were you would be disgusted with the one who is actually a known predator.

Good lord this is getting so easy!

I'm puzzled.

Bill Clinton is a "known predator", but Donald Trump is......what exactly? What is known about Bill Clinton that isn't known about Donald Trump?

But, to emphasize a point again, the actual sexual behavior of either of these men is not something that a lot of people are all that concerned with. If you could prove the rape allegation against Bill, people would be concerned about it, but you can't. After that, what you get into with Bill is one accusation of inappropriate touching, and one accusation of inappropriate exposure. Oh, there are at least two known sexual affairs, but who cares? On the Trump side of things we have twelve (I think) accusations of inappropriate touching, bragging about inappropriate touching, actually preparing for the possibility of inappropriate touching (the tic-tac thing), actually accepting the label of sexual predator on a live talk show, accusations of walking in on people, including teenagers, in dressing rooms, and a whole history of infidelity going back to at least the time when he had a very public affair with Marla Maples while he was still married to Ivana.

And....none of the infidelity, and most of the touching, are really no big deal. In most cases, you could write off most of his groping as "moving fast", i.e. he starts kissing, and if she doesn't immediately say no, then.....err......uhm....do that thing he said he does on the tape. We would be appalled, but, meh....it happens. That tape would cost him some, but it would not be enough, by itself, to torpedo the campaign.

It was his actions that doomed his campaign, starting with doing exactly what you are echoing. That "apology" in which he tried to deflect attention away from his own boorish behavior that had been caught on tape by attacking Bill Clinton was something many people found deeply disturbing. Then it got worse. When he denied the flood of allegations, that's something we found incredible. When he insulted the appearance of the accusers, that's something many of us found revolting. Yes, revolting. Him saying, in effect, "I wouldn't touch her without her consent because she's ugly" is just a disgusting thing to say.

It all speaks to his lack of self control. It's not just the lack of self control over his sexual urges. Lots of men, certainly including Bill Clinton, have that issue, but we don't care, as long as everyone involved is a consenting adult. However, the other behaviors, the reflexive attacks, the insults, the denials, those all speak to the sort of self control failures that you really don't want to see in a man who has the power of life and death over other people.

You're right but you seem to have forgotten that this thread is about Trump's run for the White House. You want to rag on Clinton, be my guest. Knock yourself out.... in another thread.

Return with us to those thrilling days of yesteryear.... well earlier this year, at least.

When he named Sessions as his Immigration Advisor many of us (myself included, early on) said this was a sop to the crazies because Trump was posturing and couldn't believe this insanity. His campaign was still considered a joke and he was going to lose to "The Machine". When he came out with his campaign's immigration points (they called it policy but it wasn't) they were written by Sessions' people. Again, people were wondering when Trump would realize that he had hitched his wagon to extremists.... always still assuming (per countless articles) that Trump was really fairly moderate and was just pandering to the loons.

It really wasn't until the Breitbart Putsch when it became apparent that Mercer/Bannon/Sessions/Coulter were the A Team, that this really WAS Trump and that the joke wasn't on the extremists but the mainstream media that kept thinking, "He can't be this whacky... he's conning them for their supports and he'll pivot to a middle ground any day, now."

So, no, Sessions isn't going to dump Trump. They're of the same team. Sessions is as reprehensible as Trump. The safe seat is why he can vote his conscience. His conscience is just very very dark and ugly.

There is only one person who benefits from this "election rigging" talk, which is what makes it so bizarre :
Putin

Having a presidential candidate declare that the US is in fact not a democracy is excellent publicity for Russia.

Why is Trump help our Cold War enemy so much?

Tony does. You - apparently do. I do. But you know who doesn't? Trump. Sucks to be a hypocrite.

Jesus said that if you divorce your wife and marry another woman, you're an adulterer.

Does logger care that Donald did that twice? Almost certainly not. I don't really care either, but I'm not a Christian.

It's because he's clearly interested in bigoted conspiracy theories.

Thought he's been making that one fairly obvious over the past five years or so.

Turns out that Mr. Gilberthorpe was 18 at the time of the incident. I'd like to know how he came to be flying first class on a domestic (USA) flight.

Question: do we actually know it was a domestic flight? All I've seen is that it was a flight to New York; I haven't seen anything which said where it was a flight from.

I haven't had time to look up articles on this so it's quite possible it has been reported this was a domestic flight and I just missed it. But if the originating point hasn't been clearly established, then it may have been a flight from London to New York which would make Gilberthorpe's presence on the flight a bit more understandable.

But, more to the point, what mature lady leans over to an 18 yo boy across the aisle and says she wants to marry Trump?

Good point! If true, that's pretty strong evidence of how abnormal Jessica Leeds must be. Trump must be very happy that Gilberthorpe has come forward this way.

This Gilberthorpe is looking more and more like a really key witness for Trump. I hope Trump continues to put Gilberthorpe in the spotlight and to let people know that this is the kind of person and the kind of evidence which Trump routinely uses to support his claims.
