Trump runs for POTUS/ Trumped Up! Part VI

Concerning Conway: she has seen first-hand how vindictive Trump is: she's not going to risk his wrath by quitting on him.

Concerning Trump's longterm plans: according to his biographers, he doesn't have those: he does what seems right to him at the time, that's all.

He seems to be ignoring Keallyann's advice anyway.Bannon is now calling the shots.
I read that in addition to her salary as campaign director, her marketing company has a major contract with the Trump campaign. I think her attitude might be to just endure the crap for the next few weeks and walk away with a big paycheck, maybe enough for her to retire confortably on.
And spend more time with her therapist.

“Hegel remarks somewhere that all great, world-historical facts and personages occur, as it were, twice. He has forgotten to add: the first time as tragedy, the second as farce.”

From "The 18th Brumaire of Louis Napoleon" by Karl Marx. Are you a pinko socialist commie? ;)

And to keep on topic: it's nice to see the stream of woman complaining about Il Douche's harassment keeping up. Though I wholeheartedly agree with Liverpoolmiss that there are a slew of much more important arguments why he should not get the keys to the White House.

Like an infant, Trump's all about the immediate - especially immediate gratification.

You make an unwarranted assumption - that Trump will actually pay what he owes for services rendered.

Norm
Trump isn't paying her.

She's being paid by a PAC and a number of other sources.
Conway’s small D.C. polling firm, the Polling Company, has taken in close to $1.9 million from political campaign committees, according to an analysis of Federal Election Commission filings conducted by Politico.

Conway’s election-year windfall is hardly all from Trump. The 49-year-old political veteran has become something of a Republican campaign vaulter throughout this election season. Her firm first worked for Ben Carson’s presidential bid in 2015, collecting $65,000 for its work for the neurosurgeon’s campaign, Politico reports. She then jumped ship to Ted Cruz, lending her firm’s hand to a few of his super-PACs. Once he dropped out of the race, a pro-Cruz PAC switched its allegiance to Trump and its name to Make America Number 1, and Conway and her firm went along with it. At the same time, she joined the campaign as an adviser.

And of all the people, Conway is about the only one who won't be dragged down by staying. She made her mark, her reputation is intact whether she takes the next 3 weeks off or not. Her job was to make the jerk look good, not to be loyal to Trump.

THis comes under the category of "When your opponent is destroying himself, don't interfere;just stand back and let him do it".
I was thinking more long term. Just let the facts in the news that these terrorist were Trump supporters speak for itself.
And, anyway, you know Donald is going to be asked about it. The logical thing to do is to denounce the terrorists, condemn them and say you have no control over who says they support you,but my own betting is Donald won';t do that but dodge the question, or claim it is a fake, part of the conspiracy to bring him down.

How can they possibly be terrorists?

They aren't Muslim.

I wonder if Putin, who, as evil as he is,is not stupid, will begin to dial down his support for Trump as it becomes clearer that Donald is headed for defeat. Vlad the Impaler can't afford to burn all his bridges to Hilary Clinton.Historically, a number of foreign politicians have tried to play in US Domestic Waters. It has never turned out well for them.

What bridges could he have left at this point?

I agree that the GOP desperately needs to reinvent itself, but I don't think they'll come up with anything attractive and positive any time soon. They'd first need to stop denying history, science, and reason. Then they'd need to stop being such bizarro reactionaries to everything resembling progress.

Trump has definitely frightened/disgusted many conservatives, and I think something will happen when the dust of this election clears, but it's hard to say what.

The alt-right, fundie, lunatic fringe (apparently approaching 40% of their likely voters) is like free crack to an addict as far as most of today's Repugnican pols are concerned.

Withdraw is gonna be way too hard for them to face.

As is traditional with them, their reaction will be if something doesn't work it's because they didn't do enough of it.

I don't expect to see any changes. Hopefully they will age out or become so Repugnant that the party fades away from lack of interest.

They've been defecating on their own brand for nearly (over?) half a century. It's past time they were gone.

Women have been putting up with it for decades, if not centuries. I categorize these as heavy passes and I'm glad if this clarifies for (some) men what's OK and what isn't. Still: Trump's behavior disgusts me; Bill Cosby's behavior horrifies me.

<snip>

Frankly, that attitude disgusts and horrifies me.

A near stranger pinning a woman against a wall and shoving their tongue into her mouth does not qualify as a "heavy pass" in modern times. As in "many decades". I've been around for many decades. That's the sort of behavior which would have gotten a guy thrown out if not punched out by just about any decent bystander.

Neither does groping their genitals.

It is assault, pure and simple.

Just because there have been times when some men got away with this sort of behavior doesn't change that.

I won't comment on centuries ago. That opens up way too many sorts of behavior that would not be countenanced in the last hundred years.

But of course no mention of the real predator who's wife you're going to vote for. I don't think you're disgusted by this at all, if you were you would be disgusted with the one who is actually a known predator.

Good lord this is getting so easy!

I think you're underestimating how bad the problem is for the Republicans. Between the Orange Menace (45%) and Ted Cruz (25%), 70% of primary voters backed a candidate with no prospects of winning a general election. The party is out of touch with the country on a national level. If Democrats started voting in mid term elections like they do in Presidential elections, the Republicans would be hard pressed to stay relevant.

Bill Clinton isn't running for President. And there is no tape of him confessing to being a sexual predator like there is for your Fuhrer.

Lol

Ridiculous

If Trump happens to somehow win this, your side will be in the wilderness for a very long time. The Senate seats you have to defend will be many in the next election. We will still hold the house. Yes Hillary will turn the courts left, but she'll only have two years to get what she wants done, if she wins the Senate. Her presidency will mimick Obama's exactly, which means she will lose in four years.

All this predicated on her winning in a few weeks, if she loses, your side is screwed.

A very pivotal election indeed!

Funny, why does it have so much traction then?

Yes, you're correct, he didn't confess, he was caught lying. ;)

Funny, why does it have so much traction then?

It doesn't. The only people that think Bill's past is relevant are right wing nutjobs.

Yes, you're correct, he didn't confess, he was caught lying. ;)

About a consensual bj. I know you don't think women are capable of deciding who their sexual partners are but you're wrong.

If her Presidency mimicks Obama's exactly, that means she will be a popular two term President, genius.

Ahh yes hilldabeast running away with it.

You do understand what a marriage means don't you?
