My impression has been that Assange was hiding in the Ecuadorian Embassy because he was sure that if he got extradited to Sweden then the Swedes would turn him over to the U.S.

I guess he thinks that with Trump as a buddy in the Oval Office he wouldn't have to be afraid of the U.S. anymore.

Do really think for a second Assange is willing to face rape charges in Sweden? The claim that he'll be extradited to the US has been BS from the start. There are no pending charges in America for any US authority to go lenient on him.

I don't think Shakespeare would take it that way. This is a Hubris and Nemesis story.

It's the irony. All the Trumpian focus on Clinton's health and her "neurological damage" and then Trumpembolism.

Even better will be if he starts pleading physical and mental frailty to keep himself out of court somewhere up the line. He'll be found shuffling around the streets of New York in slippers and dressing-gown. There's precedent : the name escapes me but Trump's father probably had dealings with the guy.

They're going to blame it on Carlos Slim.

Donald Trump reportedly plans to attack Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim for allegedly working behind the scenes to undermine the Republican nominee, but a spokesman for Slim said such a claim would be incorrect.

Trump is expected to go after Slim because the The New York Times reported on allegations that the New York businessman had previously sexually assaulted two women, according to The Wall Street Journal. Slim is a shareholder of the Times and a donor to the Clinton Foundation.

A representative for Slim, however, said that the billionaire doesn't have any interest in influencing the election.

"He doesn't know him. He's never met him in any way. He doesn't know anything about his personal life and, to be honest, he doesn't care about his personal life," a spokesman for Slim told CNBC. "We never get involved in politics in Mexico, much less in the United States."
