Who killed Meredith Kercher? part 23

Always good to see the Kercher family maintaining their "dignified silence". Until they choose not to.
 
I feel for the Kerchers. I cannot imagine what they have gone through. But it seems to me they are stuck in the "multiple attackers" scenario. Indeed, if it were not Knox and Sollecito, then who were they? If it's impossible for it to have been Knox and Sollecito because there is no evidence of her in Kercher's bedroom and only a completely unreliable single trace of Sollecito, then it's impossible for it to have been anyone else, either. There is no trace of anyone else except Guede in that room. This 'judicial" (but scientifically unsupported) "truth" continues to keep the Kerchers from being able to accept that their daughter's sole killer is in prison now.
 
Stephanie Kercher is right. The problem is, nobody gives a crap about Meredith. I don't say that self righteously, I only know about her for the same reason as everybody else, because of Amanda.

If the world actually cared about Meredith Kercher, there might be a documentary about her murder instead of Amanda's trial. Such a documentary would corroborate the investigation Nina Burleigh started in her book. The extent of Rudy Guede's psychosis and crimes. His alleged connection to an arson break-in, where he made himself at home in a woman's house while carelessly leaving the oven on and throwing rags over a hot lamp. His alleged connection to CT's robbery, where Rudy allegedly pulled a knife on him in a threatening manner after being cornered in CT's house. His bizarre behavior associated with fugue states and narcolepsy. etc etc...

That might have shed some light for the Kercher's on what happened to their daughter. But nobody cares.
 
I can never understand why people bemoan that "the real victim has been forgotten" in this case (or any other, for that matter). All memories of Kercher are private memories, and these memories have significance only to those in her private circle of family and friends.

Kercher's story ended on November 1st, 2007, and since that night nothing can hurt her or help her anymore. She was a young student who had not yet accomplished anything in the world when her life was cut short.

If Knox had come home to the apartment that night, surprised Guede, and succumbed to his attack, her memory would have faded as well. Nobody but her small circle of friends and family would remember the spacey little Seattle girl who died that night. That's the natural order of things.

Agreed. All this "don't forget Meredith" moaning by all these PGP complete strangers is nothing more than a need to feel morally superior. "WE support the victim while YOU "knowingly" support a KILLER! Aren't WE wonderful? Aren't YOU awful? Look at the 'dignified' Kerchers versus those horrible people who are daring to defend their own daughter!" That got old years ago and is no more true now than it was then. Sheesh.
 
I think the Kerchers are blinded by pain and have listened to the wrong people. I wish they could open their minds a little bit, enough to read Knox's book and perhaps Burleigh's. But I fear their pain is too raw and they just can't go there yet.

There are thousands of murder victims every year. And the world knows few of them. People know more about Meredith Kercher than almost every one of them. Trials are never about the victims nor should they be. It's about finding the truth.

I feel for Stephanie and her family. It's very sad. I'm sorry they had the world picking at that wound for 8 years. But that isn't the unjustly accused's fault. I wish that justice was done in the first place. If it was, virtually no one would know Amanda's name or Kercher's today.

In this case the investigation and trial was about indulging an idiot's fantasy and not about the truth.

Rudy Guede was swept under the rug, quietly prosecuted for some of his previous crimes in a secret trial nobody knew about until it was over, and then totally forgotten about.

Stephanie Kercher is right to complain.
 
In that long article the strongest statement of regret is constrained to "we always said we didn't want the wrong people in jail."
Unfortunately the Kercher family sailed straight into an appeal against Hellmann's verdict, choosing not to wait to read his motivation report, which stands as the definitive work of clarity in the sorry saga. Had Stephanie read that before prosecuting again, she would not be still crying these crocodile tears.

Families of murder victims cannot, by definition, cry "crocodile tears". The only thing any of us can say, really, is we hope we never find out for ourselves why.
 
Stephanie Kercher declares the court determined three people killed her sister, so this must be so.
Yet those courts found Amanda guilty, innocent, guilty, innocent.
What faith can she thus have in the court finding three people killed her sister after that?
I don't think Diocletus can help with this.

Stephanie Kercher believes what she wants to believe. And, she seems to want to believe in what brings the most attention to Stephanie Kercher. I think that making veiled allusions to Knox's culpability probably gives Stephanie the same chemical rush that Kim Kardashian gets when she posts a picture of her butt.
