Bill is the kind of guy who can and does make friends with everyone.

Absolutely, but "friendship," at least the way most people use the term, is a 2-way street and I don't think Trump is capable of caring about anyone enough to be a friend, except on the most superficial level which would be to act friendly...until he decides that screwing that "friend" over would be advantageous.

But I seriously doubt Trump's claim that Bill said anything like that. But Bill is the kind of guy to laugh at Trump's jokes about women so no to make waves.

Yeah, but he's also the kind of guy who would recognize what Trump is and that's why I doubt he would consider Trump a friend. Even accepting the gift of a golf club membership wouldn't be a factor since it's so obviously beneficial to both parties - one gets to play a game he enjoys and the other gets to brag about President Clinton playing on his course.

Pence doesn't get to automatically be the nominee if Donald drops out. He isn't the on the ballot for President.

Thats right. But the slate of electors can legitimately vote for him for VP and he still could take the oath of office on January 20th as he would be first in the line of succession.

I think that's part of the problem. Based on some earlier posts there's a good chance any votes already cast for Trump would not be transferred to Pence.

It sounds like one of those things that could technically be done but in practice would just be an invitation to endless bickering and wrangling, and that's assuming that Pence would be able to make any inroads into the voters Trump has alienated. He seem to be distinctly on the Christian Conservative wing of the party and that's a hard sell once the media turn their full focus on him if Trump did go.

Get real. This is a religion that itself, and through surrogates, has basically upheld a man's right to lord over a harem. Donald has much more serious demographical problems if young Latino voters show up in force. Partly this is based on my knowledge of many young Latinos. Don't know how many are eligible to vote, though.

The point is Trump could step down and the understanding is that a vote for Trump Pence is not a vote for Trump but a vote for Pence.

Still, this is just an exercise. Trump is NEVER EVER EVER going to quit. Not before the election, not after it either.
