Funny how we all see what we want to see. On FOX and other stations this morning I heard about the plight of people in the Caribbean. But all stations I saw focused on what it meant to the US. People care about what affects them. Myself included I was interested in what the forecast was for NY.The rest of the world doesn't exist to them. You should see their coverage of Hurricane Matthew. They're showing that it's hitting Haiti as the newscaster is speaking and the entire story is "Southeast USA Braces for hurricane". Cuba? Jamaica? Haiti? The Bahamas? You can see the shapes on the map but they don't say a word.
BTW This is from Fox News online now
Hurricane Matthew-- a Category 4 storm-- made landfall in western Haiti on Tuesday morning as towns and villages in the country braced for life-threatening winds, rains and a storm surge.
The dangerous storm was also dropping heavy rains on other parts of Haiti, the hemisphere's poorest country where many people live in flimsy shacks in areas prone to flooding. Heavy rain also fell on Jamaica and dangerous rainfall was a threat for the Dominican Republic, which adjoins Haiti.
Matthew had maximum sustained winds of 145 mph early Tuesday, and forecasters said its slowly advancing center would likely pass near or over Haiti's southwestern tip after dawn. It would continue on for another landfall expected in the lightly populated eastern end of Cuba, the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said.
