The other parties

I plan to vote for Zoltan Istvan. Give Transhumanist Party some publicity.

California has the following parties:

Democratic
Republican
Libertarian
Green
Peace and Freedom
American Independent (name of party, not independent voter)

Some states have seven or more parties.

It strikes me that Hilary and Donald are both equally terrible candidates.

Does it? I wonder how you came to that conclusion?

I mean I can get how you might say both are flawed or neither are perfect but 'equally terrible'??? I'd love to know how you are judging that.

Really?

Canada uses "first-past-the-post" and we have three major national parties (and the Greens).
But if you look at the distribution of seats it tends towards the two major parties plus a far smaller third, plus odds-and-ends like the Greens.

The way seats are distributed does lead to odd results - which is how a party based on the idea of getting one of the provinces out of Canada was actually the "Loyal Opposition" - 15% of the overall vote, but enough seas to have more then any of the other nationally based parties.

If the goal is to win: None

If the goal is a protest and awareness vote designed to show support for 3rd parties in general, the issues they raise, and the problem with our election system: Gary Johnson or Jill Stein
