After the shooting, Crutcher could be seen lying on the side of the road, blood pooling around his body, for nearly two minutes before anyone checked on him. When asked why police did not provide immediate assistance, MacKenzie said: "I don't know that we have protocol on how to render aid to people."

Well, I don't see anything being done any time soon to alter the close relationship between prosecutors, police, and the union, or to mitigate the power of the union to support bad police officers.

The cop is going to say she thought he was reaching for a weapon. Which I can fully understand from this angle.

That's not what the cops said though, is it? They said he was reaching in the vehicle window. The window was up.

How much incompetence are people supposed to tolerate?

I'd like to see a closeup of those hands. Crump has shown us a closeup of the closed window with blood on it.

Ahhh...the old PCP ploy. When all else fails, claim the guy was on PCP and had super-human strength.

PCP provides someone Super-Human Strength and makes them more dangerous? Baloney!
 
I've watched that video a few times now and read the articles.

That is just nuts

Even if the dude was actually dodgey (which he isn't) there is enough cops there to bring him down by hand, let alone taser or gun.

Police say that a vial of PCP was found inside the SUV. If it turns out that he was on PCP, this would be strong evidence in support of her story (the part not on video) and would explain why she felt it necessary to draw her firearm instead of her taser.

Because you and Crump say so, it must be true. You have a link to this "enhanced still" that supposedly shows blood on the window? How far is the window rolled up?

The police tried that on Eric Garner, he died, they learned to go straight to the Taser rather than risk committing homicide by physically detaining morbidly obese people who may have health problems.

Can't find the image either. It's ridiculous how many media sites are reporting on this and yet none have the picture to view.

Edit -- I looked at the video more closely and there does appear to be a glare or reflection that would suggest the window was rolled up.

It's definitely a glare. The uniformity, color, and the way it moves as the camera pans.

Since I don't believe cops like to kill people for fun as some here believe, I think from their vantage point it may have looked like he was reaching in.

Totally different view than they had.

Find the whole all standing in a row and no one approaching him a bit odd.

I watched the video again and you could be right. What it looks like to me is the white leather seats in the vehicle that can be seen through the right rear passenger window that is rolled down and the sunroof, as well. It also looks to me that Crutcher is doing something with his left arm like wrapping it around the rear view mirror or trying to stick his arm into a partially rolled down window to open the door.
 
Well...when all is said and done, one thing is known for sure: it was an unjustifiable shooting.

Expect to see even more people protesting during the National Anthem next week.
 
I have a feeling if I were to 'disobey police orders' to the extent this victim did, I would not be subjected to either a taser hit or a gunshot. I could be wrong, but as a white female living in an affluent far west suburb of Boston I'm betting I could get away with quite a bit before the police even showed their weapons, let alone used them. And I'm a firearms owner, I could actually have a handgun in my glovebox or under my seat.
