Corbyn's days (very) numbered?

I suspect Corbyn will win by an even bigger margin than he did last year.

Probably, and this will usher in a long period of Labour Party irrelevance on a par with the 1980's as Corbyn continues to fight the battles of the 70's and 80's instead of addressing the problems faced by working people in today.

The problem seems to be that Corbyn is a communist who wants a return to the old Soviet administrations, while most of the Labour MPs are New Labour Blairite liberals who support Tory Party Friedmanite economists, and their cuts to public spending, and a policy of smashing the trade unions. There needs to be a political genius. Perhaps it's possible to breed one?

If it's any consolation to him, Smith can reflect that he probably did better than Angela Eagle would have done. :D

BBC: Jeremy Corbyn wins Labour leadership with 61.8% of vote. That's more than he got last time in the membership vote.

No, but the Labour party's done for until at least the 2025 election

If Corbyn transfers that level of party support to the rest of the country, he will win the next election. In my circle of friends and family, which covers the entire political spectrum, he is popular with all of us as a principled man. Principled is what everyone wants.

Just out of interest, but what have you seen from him to regard him as principled?

In contrast, among my friends, many of whom have been party members and have voted Labour for decades, Corbyn is derided for being dogmatic and a poor party leader.

I will be shocked if, under Corbyn, the Labour Party does any better than holding onto party loyalists and a few Momentum converts.
