Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

So you actually had nothing to say and spent a long time coming round to saying so.

Some of us have noticed the pattern.

Nothing to say? My first post was asking if we can agree that the majority of gun confiscation advocates are Democrats. That is a good enough point on its own.

Then if we can point you to a post from any Republican supporter who is saying something crazy that means any Republican elected to office will do that crazy thing first chance they get?

That is how ridiculously absurd of an argument you are making.
It's his one trick; the rest is pointless elaboration.

Perhaps, but that memo is hardly evidence of a Clinton campaign/birtherism connection. A suggestion that one paints Obama as not quite as American as apple pie is a long way from claims he's not a citizen at all.

Arguably, it's worse. Not being a natural born citizen is a mere technicality, which has nothing to do with race. For example, if Obama's mother had been a year older when he was born, his place of birth would have been moot. Mark Penn outlined a strategy for painting Obama as un-American simply because of his background (and, presumably, race).

It truly is laughable to call Trump racist for the birther stuff, and, at the same time, give Clinton's campaign a pass.

The consensus does seem to be that it is true.
If asked, I think the consensus would be that the whole thing was a derail that shouldn't have been started in the first place since the person who started and perpetuated the derail had nothing to say about it in relation to Donald Trump.

It doesn't look good, especially with Trump's history of racism (yes, he has it).

And isn't that what people say about the Clinton's and their foundation? that what they did "doesn't look good?"

I read it as not being a factor of race per se. I read it as the argument at the time that Obama is African American, but not black. If he was black then he would be American.

This is as pathetic an attempt at discrediting as the DNC scandal of someone suggesting that Billary's people could use Bernie's between-the-lines atheism against him.

Please show the class where Hillary adopted any of the proposed tactics. You guys (and I'm including Fudbucker in here) are getting more like 911 Truth every day. This is Operation Northwoods but without a document, only innuendo.

Show where Hillary Clinton adopted either piece of advice.

In the meanhow we have massive evidence that Donald Trump picked up the tattered garment of Birtherism, took it to his very best tailors, had it re-fitted and re-styled and wore it comfortably for five years. We have evidence that sympatico birthers still have the firm belief that his nonsense of a dismissal of this issue the other day was just playing to the crowds and was political correctness writ large. They absolutely KNOW that Donald's still a birther; he just needed to throw a towel to advisors like Ben Carson.

We also have evidence, by his chosen advisors, e.g. Coulter, Sessions, Breitbart, Inc.... that he is still pandering to racists and bigots.

In lieu of that hard evidence, you offer anecdotes of ideas that campaign people had? Only in HDS/ODS world.

(Yet, when one offers up the actual words in an oral history of a certain Lee Atwater? They're re-interpreted, translated into Coulterese, and are an inspiration to us all. How's that work? Someone's written suggestions, rejected by the campaign, are proof of godonlyknowswhat, but the actual architect of the Southern Strategy speaks up, and "oh, well, you have to look at it this way...." )

It's certainly "arguably" worse. You'll just be, not for the first time, on the morals-free side of the argument.

There may be an argument for calling Mark Penn a racist. Like a certain Mr. Atwater, though, I'd argue that he isn't. He's just a political hack and this is the kind of **** political hacks do.

Clinton's campaign looked at the possibilities (giving the claimants the benefit of the doubt, here) and rejected them. Please show evidence that Trump looked at his news feed, read about birtherism, and rejected it. Same timeline as you're insisting for Clinton: Within A Few Days, not five years later when forced to by his campaign donors.

If you attribute the birther idea to Clinton, everything anyone on Trump's campaign staff ever said is fair game to attribute to him.
This is not a game Trumpettes should play.

Yep. The argument that Fudbucker's trying to promote would be particularly onerous. "Well, the fact that someone on staff could've suggested it means that it's obvious that it's the sort of thing the candidate would go for."

Look at Trump's advisors and strategists. Coulter, Stone, Sessions.... Hell, you could break the bank solely on Coulter's classics.

Why elected officials when that wasn't my argument? Why can't I just point you to posts on Democratic underground?

Because it is elected officials that are the subject. Unlike the Republican party, the "extremes" have not taken over the Democratic party.

But play it, they will. They see separate rules for them vs. everyone else. Notice how being "politically correct" was stupid and a pain, yet when Hillary mentioned "deplorables" they were all butt-hurt.

Fine. I think it is the least interesting part but I will answer it. New York state Senate Democrats had a wish list including gun confiscation. New York city passed a capacity limit that did not have grandfathering and sent confiscation letters to registered owners.

A ammo capacity limit being enforced is hardly "banning all guns."

You just did.

No, really, that's all there is to it.

I saw Christie earlier today on CNN. It was painful. He claimed that Trump ceased to be a birther 5 years ago, and excused his attacks on Gates and Powell.

(Tapper did refute his claim about the birther issue in real time, though.)

Yeah, I saw that. Now that Christie is not going to be the VP, why is he being such a toady? Does he think that will buy him the AG slot?

That, of course, was the primary campaign. Come the Presidential campaign, Karl Rove comes on the field, and the filth and fabrication really start flowing. Penn might be an exceptional son-of-a-bitch, but Rove is Cthulhu. There is no equivalence.

When I first read that I read "lubrication" and thought, "Man, CapelDodger is on a roll tonight."

That is all. Carry on.
