Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

I saw this comment on an Atlantic piece and it's been something I've been thinking about:

"Obama was a depressing bore after the election. Hillary is the standard lying politician, the ultimate status quo. No thank you. Let's get weird this time around. One man can't take down America, but he can make it a lot more interesting."

Is that Trump's secret? Are too many people just bored with life? A Trump presidency would be a lot of things, but it wouldn't be boring.

It means simply as it always has, democrats want to ban and restrict guns. If given the chance they would. Yes its obvious they are blocked from doing so. But she will do it the back door way, with the courts.

While libs are denying what hillary wants to do, they will be cheering the courts when the courts do it. That's because libs are corrupt and dishonest, they always try to hide their true intentions.

One only has to look at the Democrats' desire to put Christians in FEMA death camps to see the logic behind claims like this one.

Why will she be able to do this when other democrat presidents haven't?

Because she will stack the courts with her appointees after...[dramatic pause]...she murders the sitting justices. After killing Vince Foster, her bloodlust has never been satisfied. I suspect, but cannot prove, that she will be torn between the poetic irony of using firearms to kill them and the thrill of actually strangling them with her bare hands.

Apparently someone called Trump last night shortly after the explosion in Manhattan. At any rate he knew about it when his plane landed in Colorado Springs forty-five minutes after the explosion. Here's what he told the crowd:
"I must tell you that just before I got off the plane a bomb went off in New York and nobody knows what's going on," Trump said, minutes after stepping off his plane during a rally at an airport hangar in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He continued: "But boy we are living in a time -- we better get very tough, folks. We better get very, very tough. It's a terrible thing that's going on in our world, in our country and we are going to get tough and smart and vigilant." News link

Now city officials -- among others -- are upset Trump implied it was a terrorist attack before anyone knew many details. That he hadn't been more prudent and waited for some official information to come out.

The millennials are right. He's a dumpster fire.

By having no sense of empathy.

You'd think he'd be able to fake it or allow his staff to fake it. Instead he vomited three different sections of a Hallmark style guide that don't fit the event or together.

An explosion happens in New York and people are upset Trump implied it was a terrorist attack? Seriously? Trump wasn't exactly going out on a limb there, and it was, in fact, a terrorist attack.

People are upset because persons in positions of responsibility shouldn't state speculations (even probable ones) as fact. Responsible authorities wait for information before discussing causes of explosions. I know Trump isn't an authority presently, but he's aiming to be one of the highest authorities in the nation and so it's a lesson he would do well to learn.

The problem though is THAT HE TALKS BEFORE HE KNOWS. Hell, everyone immediately thinks it's a terrorist attack. A responsible leader waits until he KNOWS.

He did the same thing with Egypt Air which he no longer mentions as it's still unverified nearly five months later.

"A bomb exploding in New York is obviously an act of terrorism," Gov. Andrew Cuomo told reporters Sunday, vowing that authorities will catch whoever is responsible.

Trump stating the obvious is not going to hurt him. It will help him. Everyone knew it was terrorism. There had been a pipe bomb that went off in New Jersey hours earlier. What was the first thing you thought of when the New York story broke, a gas main explosion?

Clinton, asked about Trump's saying that a "bomb" had gone off in New York, said it was "important to know the facts about any incident like this," adding, "I think it's always wiser to wait until you have information before making conclusions, because we are just in the beginning stages of trying to determine what happened."

This isn't the year for typical cautious wait-and-see pol talk. Trump's appeal is he tells it like it is, and he was right on this one, and Clinton sounded like a dopey politician.

Actually that is s pretty good summation of all of Trump's problems. It certainly applies when Trump says that we can solve problems like murder rates in Chicago or deaths from ISIS.

Why elected officials when that wasn't my argument? Why can't I just point you to posts on Democratic underground?

Because it's irrelevant? the claim is that Clinton and the Democrats are going to 'take your guns', pointing out that there are some people attached to the Democratic Party advocating things that will never become policy in a millennium is not the same. I would be more concerned about Trump not so subtly inferring someone should murder Clinton...

Yes, he does do that, yes it's irresponsible (although this one was so obviously a terrorist attack, I can hardly blame Trump for saying what we all suspected) and it's a gamble because you look stupid when you get it wrong.

Politically, Trump wins on this one. People don't want responsible safe politicians. That's not the mood of the electorate. They want Marine le Pen and Geert Wilders and Brexit and someone who will kick ass.

Personally, I don't want the bull in the china closet. Being first to run your mouth isn't kicking ass, it's just reckless.

I thought a bomb was probable. But Cuomo's statement came after confirmation it was a bomb, yes? If so, he's merely making a claim about the definition of terrorism: intentionally setting off a bomb in a crowded area is an act of terror.

Trump's comments came when the source of the explosion had not yet been determined. It was reckless for a person in apparent authority to say that.

I can't say what the average voter prefers, but for my money, I much prefer a willingness to wait for the local authorities to determine the cause before claiming it's a bomb.

Remember OKC? In the hours after the explosion, rumors of Middle Eastern suspects were common. Suppose that had been Trump's year. Do you suppose he would have waited to see where the investigation led, or do you suppose he would have immediately blamed Islamic terrorists? And, if the latter, would that have been a good thing to do?

Can we agree the vast majority of people who want to take your guns are Democrats?

Sure, I'll agree. Those who would like to do away with gun rights tend to be Democrats.

Would you also agree that the vast majority of racists support Trump? Does that suggest that Trump will try to reintroduce legal segregation?
