A Birther!

A birther supporter was among the Donald Trump backers who introduced the nominee at the Friday event where he attempted to walk back his birtherism.

Retired Air Force Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney was one of the military vets who spoke at the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C.

But back in 2010, McInerney wrote an affidavit that questioned the constitutionality of President Obama's authority, based on the "widespread and legitimate concerns" about his birth records, TPM reported at the time.

There's the nudge nudge wink wink his racist adherents needed.

As a quick reminder, Obama released his birth certificate in June 2008. After that, birtherism went from racist conspiracy theory to delusional racist conspiracy theory.

It's far too late for Trump to apologize as far as his campaign goes - and he did not apologize anyway.

It was a political rickroll. Not worth it. Didn't clear up his birtherism since nothing had changed in the last eight months but now we're supposed to believe he's not a birther. Press conference didn't happen since follow up questions would be awkward for him to answer. Based on his past statements on the issue, he should now donate $5 million to charity and release his tax returns.

You can argue today was good for Donald the Hotelier but no one with any knowledge of politics can say this was good for his campaign. He's just going to be dogged about questions about his racism/birtherism since you can't unring that bell without making a huge effort and offering a real apology while appearing contrite. A passing 67 words including two lies (not including the retraction) does not pass muster.

Mark Cuban said Trump was the master of headline porn. That maybe nobody is better at providing publications with click bait than Trump. I had never looked at him in this way, but Cuban is right on. Trump has the media dancing on a string. The last couple of days is a perfect example. Will he or won't he admit he was wrong about Obama's birthplace? As if it matters what BS comes out of his mouth after 8 years of suggesting that Obama was an illegitimate President?

I'd like to blame the fourth estate for this inane charade but that would be naive and a mistake. Because the media is not responsible for anything. They are only concerned about what sells advertising.

I will them some credit for no falling for Donald's attempt to make them an informercial for his new hotel.

Pay your share by not being allowed to drink large soda? What kind of share is that? Seems like if you let me pay my fair share to get in, you shouldn't continue to charge me for all the rides in the park. How about I pay my income taxes, and you don't disrupt any other market price because it gives you a sad?

I assume by this you have no qualms with price-gouging on epi-pens so a couple of people can get rich off of people who cannot afford this life saving product? Easy to say as long as you don't suffer from a potentially fatal allergic reaction.

Now as it turns out, a lot of fire departments purchase epi-pens for their emergency services. So now your tax dollars are going to make a couple people rich, does that make it legit to regulate the price of epi-pens?

It's easy to cherry pick a single regulation, then not consider other reasons for the regulation. If there is evidence products are marketed in such a way as to encourage over-consumption of calories, it should be within the power of the community to address the problem.

Given that there is no way that Trump would grant a 4-hour interview, why did he offer only $10 million? He could offer $100,000,000 and still be certain that he wouldn't have to pay out.
