Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

Through the nativist/Republican/right-wing prism, big diffs in this campaign between Dems and Reps:

  • Hilary's gaffe about the undesirables among Trumpsters = "running a hate-filled campaign"
  • Trumps months' long string of unsupported insults, slander, and lies = "tells it like it is"
  • Democrats spend anything, including on bipartisan programs, or there is a deficit = "they're ruining the economy"
  • Republicans doling out benefits to seniors for votes under BushII, war deficits = "drop in the bucket, deficits don't matter"
Republicans simply, plainly, lack the courage to own up to hard truths, so they bounce it all back on the world and point fingers. Neither brave nor manly. Never thought I'd see so many millions drop all pretense of being adults and cry like newborns. This is not the exceptionalism anyone was looking for.

Exceptionalism is very hard to find where it does not exist.

I can't decide if I'm baffled or amused when people like logger, who incessantly bitch and moan about "liberals", point out a liberal position from a conservative candidate in an attempt to entice liberals to vote for said conservative.

I'm amused (but far from surprised) that you think because you think he thinks that then he does. In fact none of us think Trump is a conservative. He doesn't have the intellectual depth to rate such categories.

This was the post I was responding to, he obviously thinks Trump is conservative.

You people face two unattractive possibilities once this is all over. In one Trump wins and is the disaster we all know he will be. In the other Hillary Clinton wins and isn't the disaster you believe she will be.

Let me explain from an actual citizens perspective. Obama is a disaster, Hillary will continue it or make it worse. Trump is going to go in a different direction. I don't even care what direction, just that he'll appoint originalist justices to the court.

If Obama is a disaster, say - the Titanic, then Trump will be Pearl Harbor.

Of course Obama isn't a disaster but that's a different thread with less .

But he, and now Corey, assure us that it's not the same thing as a foundation. He can't just be expected to give up his company, but he promises he won't be involved in it at all. No, not at all. He'll just leave the running of the business to the current officers - all of whom happen to be named Trump. Pure coincidence. As it's a coincidence that his tax plan doesn't close the loopholes for writing off interest on huge corporate loans.

As it will be when his new best friend gives him, uh the independent Trump Corp..... permits to open casinos in Manila and his other new best friend gets behind the Trump Pyongyang Pagoda luxury hotel.

Trump Business, Trump Foundation and POTUS Trump will all be linked, but not really because it's in a blind trust, ya see,..... for certain Trump-revised definitions of "blind" and "trust". Trump's idea of a blind trust is "Don't look over there. Just trust me."

It's a TOTAL JOKE that the Clinton Foundation ( A God Damn Charity) will eliminate all their international work but Trump Corporation won't? People have the nerve to suggest a charity is a conflict of interest and personal profit is not?

What the Hell is wrong with the world?

It is astonishing that Trump's international dealings are considered unimportant: Trump has done nothing but claim how great he is at making deals.
Why would anyone assume he would pass up on one (or let his kids do so) just because it might be considered a conflict of interest?

IN my opinion, it is precisely this stuff that makes him dangerous.
That and his temperament.
And his world view.
And his ignorance.

Yes, what's wrong with debt? Our national debt plus currency plus reserves is equal to the net financial savings of the non-governmental sector. The country's debt is the private sector's financial wealth. If there is too little, then aggregate demand drops below the economy's capacity, and we have a recession. Every single time the federal government has run a budget surplus for 2 or more years straight, a recession has immediately followed.

Do you have any source for the claims above?

Is this trump's economic policy?

I don't know. I hope so. I know that Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Andrew Card understood this stuff. Not sure if George W. Bush or Barack Obama did (or do).

I don't know.

To be fair, there is no way you could know. Trump has never expressed it as his policy, but then if he had you would have to assume he was lying, or he would have contradicted himself in the same interview.

I hope so.

As much as the GOP derided voters for buying into an empty promise of Hope and Change, I find this sort of support for Trump quite ironic.

I know he will bring some sort of change, I just hope he does what I want.

Better is Paul Krugman.

No, not at all. Frankly, I think Hillary is more prone to actual temper tantrums. She just is better about hiding them.
There's simply no end to her duplicity, is there? Fortunately you can see right through her to what you know is there.

Are the temper tantrums behind all the murders she's committed and got away with, such as that guy in Benghazi?

Weird, because Mosler and Trump couldn't be farther apart.

Trump suggests that the US default on its debt and renegotiate our debts. Mosler calls that "finanial suicide".

What in his past would make you think he'd do that? For the first 68+ years of his life he claimed to be a Democrat. It wasn't until he decided to run that he suddenly became GOPer.

How can you be so disingenuous? You suggest that Hillary is prone to "actual temper tantrums" despite no one seeing them.

Did Mosler actually say that? I don't remember although I have disagreed with him on some substantive things (not just politics - he's way too much to the left for my taste). In my view, defaulting on the debt would be a non-event. The defaulted debt would trade at par because the courts would probably let people redeem defaulted bonds to the Treasury in fulfillment of tax obligations.

Taxes are the only thing that gives the US dollar value anyway (a dollar is essentially a tax credit), and the US dollar is the only thing that gives Treasury bonds value.
