Do you normally accept things as plausible based on assumptions without evidence? It seems we should just say there is no evidence one way or the other.

Clearly, by Bayesian reasoning, we should take the probability of it being true to be 50%!

Yes, as long as there isn't sufficient evidence against. I weigh the evidence. If there is no little evidence against and little evidence for any particular proposition, then I think that proposition is plausible.

As for the Fed, I think it is idiotic that the Fed should be independent from the Treasury and that monetary policy and fiscal policy should be uncoordinated. Because I think it's idiotic to not have coordination, I believe that such coordination exists.

Sometimes absence of evidence is evidence of absence. The very existence of a Fed system has always been contentious, its activities are closely monitored by people with serious money on the table, the Fed is not some kind of closed priesthood within the financial community, and its deliberations are made public after the fact. Despite that there's no evidence of corruption.

Well now I need some other sort of catastrophe to make my day end on a positive note.
Like somebody telling Trump "Your stairs are ready for you now, Mr President Trump" over the Pacific? And nobody filming it?

(By the way, I have it on good authority that "Mr President Trump" is to be the new form of address after the Orange Revolution. Which I think is a legitimate concern.)

Trump won't take third place: the title will be Trump Mr. President.

I don't think Trump can grasp that institutions can be fiercely independent, and that people can have integrity.

The history of the Fed system is fascinating, as I'm sure you know. The idea that it is casually corruptible by any and all Presidents is risible. President Trump would get his arse handed to him if he tried it.

I distinctly remember Jimmy Carter complaining about the Fed's high interest rates during his administration.

I believe a substantial number of primary votes for trump were Hillary Hipsters trolling the system.

I wouldn't define myself as a "Hillary Hipster" but I'm certainly trolling the system. I don't want Trump to win--I'm only voting for him because I can do so with impunity (I live in Massachusetts). If he does carry this state by a very slim margin, and win the election by virtue of Mass' EC votes I'll have to think of some truly gruesome punishment for myself, though.

I'm also in MA and if that happens, I will hunt you down and kill you with a rusty spoon.

Seriously, why would you cast a vote for a man that you think is worse than the alternatives? I can understand, say, a Green party voter choosing Hillary, even though he thinks Stein is better. But if you think that Trump will lose and that Trump is the worse candidate, why vote for Trump?

And... Pence is shocked, shocked I tell you that Clinton called half of Trump supporters 'in the deplorables basket'.

"Governor Pence, would you call David Duke deplorable?"

Apparently not.
“I’m not really sure why the media keeps dropping David Duke’s name repeatedly. Donald Trump has denounced [him] repeatedly. We don’t want his support.” But when asked whether he would agree that Duke is “deplorable,” Pence demurred: “I’m not in the name-calling business.”
You can guess now that will be the headline for a few days.

Except for the last bit about coordination, I agree with the stated premise. If there is coordination, it is too much behind closed doors. There should be official channels of cooperation and data sharing with considerable transparency. "Considerable" but not total - some things are best done on the qt.

If that comes to pass, then tune in here. I'm sure there will be endless delicious suggestions for how to abuse yourself mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually and avatarly.
