Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

But can you back your assertions, such as your latest bold pronouncement that the democrats have somehow managed to salt the pentagon with "leftist leadership?"

They've been in power for 8 years. The DOJ becoming completely political would be another clue. Finally anyone can see the pentagon has become more left. Bush made the mistake of not cleaning house to start his new tone, Obama added more. Oh and don't forget Hillary having seven more military backers than Trump. ;)

Libs really think Hillary having 7 more is a big deal?

The dems have filled our military with leftist leadership for decades. And somehow this is a win, too funny.

The best for our military has always been peace through strength. I want the biggest best military money can buy. It leads to new technologies which will be essential for what's coming.

Come On logger. This is really a desperate reach as neither party fills the ranks of the military. The military is non-political and people are promoted but the military not through part politcs. And the retired military are far more liklikely to support Republicans since a significant number of them go to work for military contractors after their careers are over and Dems tend to favor reductions in military spending which could threaten their livelihood. Every 4 years I see these lists and consistently by a wide margin
retired flag officers support Republicans.

Well, as our conservative buddy seems not to realize, the actual story here is that the Dems and Hillary have even close to the number of former military brass supporting them that the GOP nominee has.... not to mention MORE of them. LOL Libruls are pretty well known for wanting to cut military spending to give funds to inner city free lunch programs and such.

Yes, that is the issue.

I did not. Please do share!
Donald Trump: 'God is the ultimate'
http://edition.cnn.com/2015/09/23/politics/donald-trump-on-god/index.html

In an interview with the Christian Broadcast Network's The Brody File at the Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, the Republican presidential front-runner was asked to describe what God means to him.

"Well I say God is the ultimate. You know you look at this?" Trump said, motioning toward an oceanfront golf course that bears his name. "Here we are on the Pacific Ocean. How did I ever own this? I bought it 15 years ago. I made one of the great deals they say ever. I have no more mortgage on it as I will certify and represent to you. And I was able to buy this and make a great deal. That's what I want to do for the country. Make great deals. We have to, we have to bring it back, but God is the ultimate. I mean God created this, and here's the Pacific Ocean right behind us. So nobody, no thing, no there's nothing like God."
Apart from the rambling and the way Trump shoulders God out of the spotlight, notice the Trumpian "they say", meaning he says to himself. Altogether deranged.

I hope Trump starts pushing that line himself. It has often been said (really, it has) that Mcarthy's mistake was to turn on the US Army leadership, which then crushed him like the stinkbug he was.

1. I don't think Trump believes in God anymore than he believes in the Easter Bunny which would be fine with me. Still, speaking about the subject in such an incoherent narcissistic way makes you roll your eyes and think "what a moron".

Trump doesn't believe IN God, so much as he believes he IS God.

Oh please. When retired military support trump its proof of his worthiness to be CIC. When MORE retired military support Hillary its a conspiracy.

trumps planned military spending would not lead to new technology. It is a cold war plan in a post 9/11 world that would make us less safe at home and leave the troops less prepared and able to confront the threats they face abroad. The best military money can buy these days is the smaller, more agile, more elite forces that Bush W and Obama have been working towards. trump would undue all of that in a sad effort to pander to our military. I have faith they will see through his naivety.

There is no rational reason to support a trump presidency, the trump wall, or trumps plans for military spending.

Holy heck! How can anyone take this conman seriously?

You moderators have a point.

Nailed it.:D

I'm sure Trump believes in God and Heaven and life eternal. Without them he'd have to face the inevitability of personal oblivion, which is not something he could possibly handle.

Christianity is a comfort-blanket, and Trump does love his blankies. Everything about him got stuck at infantile.

Still, speaking about the subject in such an incoherent narcissistic way makes you roll your eyes and think "what a moron".
Trump gives solipsism a bad name.

Interestingly, Trump has many of the characterstics of a cult leader. I won't comment on the characteristics of Trump's followers, obviously.

They've been in power for 8 years.
Appeal to unspecific horse ****. At this point I invite you to present a list of generals promoted in the last 8 years or specific cabinet functions such as the Joint Chief and tell me what horrible liberals each are and why they should not have been promoted over their peers.

A mere 8 years in a military career is nothing. The military leadership have been in the military promotion pipeline since they were slick-sleeves and cadots. Obama didn't just pluck them off a tree and plug them into leadership positions.

The DOJ becoming completely political would be another clue.
Off-topic gish gallop and false, but off topic so I'll just kick it offstage and move on.

Finally anyone can see the pentagon has become more left.
Because they stopped kicking out queers, I suppose? Present your criteria of evaluation if you have something else.

Bush made the mistake of not cleaning house to start his new tone,
I have no idea what you're talking about. Perhaps presenting specifics would elucidate your position.

Military leadership retired early in droves under Dubya because the Cheney/Rumsfeld war strategy was to kick the top off an anthill and try to stuff different ants in the hill one by one, meanwhile ignoring all the advice of all the generals.

Obama added more.

More what?

Oh and don't forget Hillary having seven more military backers than Trump. ;)

Public pronouncements of support are not votes.

Generals in the US military are selected by boards of general officers in their branch of service. While SecDef and POTUS sign off and, on paper, the President make the final decisions of who to nominate for promotion (to be confirmed by the Senate), they typically follow the recommendations of said selection/promotion boards who are presumed to know best both the personnel needs of their services and the qualifications of the officers under consideration.

If there is evidence that the President and his appointees are short-circuiting this process in any way, it would be interesting to see it.

Here's an intriguing look at the steps preceding a U.S. nuclear launch. Note that nobody gets to veto the President:
http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/graphics/2016-nuclear-weapon-launch/

Scariest thing about that in a Trump presidency:

[Time elapsed: less than one minute]

The consultation lasts as long as the president wishes, but if enemy missiles are heading toward the U.S. and the president must order a counterstrike, the consultation may last just 30 seconds. The tight time line raises the risk of launching hastily on a false warning.

And to think that there are some who are viewing haste and unpredictability as a FEATURE of this brain-dead man child.
