Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

I did not. Please do share!

Hillary has 95. Why is trump losing the support of retired military leaders?

Now trump is going on and on about expanding our military. More troops! More Planes! More ships! More everything!!! It's the same sad plan that Mitt proposed in order to try and pander to the average soldier. When will republicans learn that our military members are smart enough to see through this nonsense?

Secretary Rumsfeld started our path down a leaner, meaner more efficient military to tackle the current threat faced by the United States and our allies around the world. The era of the flotilla of ships is over. We will not be dog fighting with terrorists over the skies of Syria. The age of the massive D-day invasions is over. We need a smart and agile military of tomorrow, not a massive bloated military of the cold war. trump would waste billions destroying the progress made in modernizing our military and leave us more vulnerable to attack. All because he thinks our men and women in uniform are stupid enough to fall for his rhetoric. This is even further proof that trump isn't qualified to be president, he doesn't understand the nature of the threat we face and the needs of a modern military.

He would also do all of this military spending while giving tax cuts, spending on domestic infrastructure, and preserving programs like social security - the party of fiscal responsibility my foot! He will add trillions to the national debt. There is not one rational reason to support a trump presidency.

Libs really think Hillary having 7 more is a big deal?

The dems have filled our military with leftist leadership for decades. And somehow this is a win, too funny.

The best for our military has always been peace through strength. I want the biggest best military money can buy. It leads to new technologies which will be essential for what's coming.

Well, Trump thought it was a big deal to have 88... carried the letter around with him and everything. A the very least, having more military leaders support clinton demonstrates at the very least that Trump's letter of support is irrelevant.

Amazing.

Never mind the fact that the military is pretty much a non-political organisation.

There was a republican in the white house for 8 years, from 2001 to 2009. They were also in the white house from 1981-1983. They have won a majority of the presidential elections(5 out of 9) since 1980.

How exactly are the demos going to 'fill the military with leftist leadership' with a republican as commander in chief?

Easy to say when it isn't your money.

So how about comparing the number of noteworthy Republicans supporting Clinton compared to Democrats supporting Trump?
As of August, it's 200:0.

Should make you think (but I know won't).

Will all participants please avoid the use of "you lib[eral]s", "you Trump supporters", "you leftists", "you Clinton supporters" "you Republicans" and similar constructions. You'll note that what each phrase has in common is that it personalises your argument to people in the thread, rather than the groups in general.

ETA Following some feedback, you are still permitted to use the words liberals, Clinton supporters, Trump supporters etc. Just don't precede the word/phrase with "you", as that is what makes the post step into rule 12 territory.

Thank you for your understanding.

Why would he fire them? If Obama's the supposed reason for their poor performance, wouldn't it be more wise for Trump to claim that, under his presidency, those generals can be as good as they actually are?

88 signatures. Most of 'em were probably promised another star and a window office in the outer ring of the Pentagon.

He's working promotion by Klingon rules... snuff the guy above and you move up.

If I were moderating the event, the first thing I would say is, "May I see the letter?" Trump, to me, sounds like the kind of guy who wouldn't even make an effort to actually bring things to a debate/interview/meeting. No one in Trump's life has ever asked him for physical evidence of his claims, so why would he be prepared to present it.

I believe there is a list. I just don't believe Trump had it with him when he took the stage and pulled out a paper.

You moderators have a point.

Surely, the signers are all retired?

Anyway, such insinuations do not help the argument. Let's accept that the 88 signers support Trump. It is nonsense to wave it away with imagined conspiracies, even as a joke.

It isn't my money? I seem to be writing a lot of checks to the Feds.

But can you back your assertions, such as your latest bold pronouncement that the democrats have somehow managed to salt the pentagon with "leftist leadership?"

Well, as our conservative buddy seems not to realize, the actual story here is that the Dems and Hillary have even close to the number of former military brass supporting them that the GOP nominee has.... not to mention MORE of them. LOL Libruls are pretty well known for wanting to cut military spending to give funds to inner city free lunch programs and such.

These are the building blocks of the fact-free bubble occupied by Trump adherents, used to conveniently wave off reality.

Yes, all retired. It's illegal for active-duty military to participate in a political campaign.

I don't know how it is now, but when I was in the military 45 years ago it was common practice for senior officers to be promoted one grade on the day they retired, so they could pull in bigger pensions. I wonder how many of Trump's generals were Colonels until the day of retirement?

Considering the innate conservatism of the military, Hillary having more supporters among senior retirees is pretty surprising.
